How do I reset my ECU without bringing it to a dealer? Is there any way?

What car do you have?

he has a 1st gen, but it should be the same as a 2nd gen, right?

Disconnect the battery, press the brakes (to drain the system) and leave it for 30 minutes. Reset.

Are you trying to clear a CEL, or simply reset the ECU?

It should simply be as easy as removing the negative battery cable, hold down the brake for 15-25 seconds, hook up the battery cable. The first 100miles your car will have to relearn its fuel mapping and such, so you will probably get less than stellar gas mileage.

Yeah, just resetting the ecu is easy. Clearing codes can be a bitch. The black/green connector method doesn't always work.

I have a scantool though, so I can clear my ecu by just pushing a button. :D
