Possible, but it was listed specifically for the BH/BE. Thinking back to my bugeye and STi, and can't remeber if this bar would have fit ahead of the IC. Maybe they thought it was advantageous in some way to put the bar ahead of the air filter box rather than behind - I don't know. I just know this bar in similar applications is mounted the same way...
https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2007/02/wl_stb-1.jpg
Also, the Whiteline sticker in the center of the bar points towrads the front of the car, so it must be right  .

Ah, right, I forgot about that airbox.

BTW- that's a really hot BH

You should be able to flip the bar the other way and have it closer to the firewall too.

Only reason not to do it that way is that it might rub the firewall on some applications.

Bear in mind, Whiteline really only design the products for the boosted versions - they're an Australian company.

Nice looking Legacy.

What grille is that? Also, are the horns strictly plug and play? Where'd you buy 'em and how much?

Nice BH, a Baja hood would like nice on there.

Correct me if I'm wrong but that's an Impreza badge, why would you out one on your Legacy?

Nice looking Legacy.

What grille is that? Also, are the horns strictly plug and play? Where'd you buy 'em and how much?

The grill is stock - I like it but am looking for something different. I actually saw a stock grill hit with a few coats of spray on tint to give a black chrome look that I kind of like - I may give it a try if I don't find another grill I like.

The horns are not plug and play - you either have to wire them up yourself with the supplied diagram and relay, or you do what I will soon do and have them hooked up at a stereo shop while they install a 6-disc indash from a bugeye.

I bought them on eBay from this guy...
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Hella-Supertone-Dual-Horn-German-Super-Tone-85115-NEW_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ38655QQihZ019QQitemZ290081712823QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW

Currently on for $58 "Buy it Now".

The horns are easy to install - I used existing holes in the upper rad support, drilled them out, and installed with SS bolts using an extra nut as a spacer so the mount would clear the lip on the support. The horns come with what I think is SS brackets to mount them. You just need to strong-arm the brackets a little to ensure the horns do not rub the back of the grill.

The Baja hood is going to be my next mod - when I can afford it.

And yes, it is an Impreza "i" badge. I had originally bought it for my STi, but never did get around to installing it before I sold it, so I put it on the Leg. It is not accurate, but I find it really stands out over the stock stars with black background.

I actually did it the lazy way and just stuck it on over the stock emblem. I did this, aside from laziness, because I was not sure if I wanted to keep the grill or not, so I wanted to be able to more easily remove the "i" badge without damage if I did swap or mod the grill.

Finally got the rear swaybar and links on - Whiteline adjustable rear bar with Whiteline HD endlinks.

http://img399.imageshack.us/img399/5144/pdrm2765cb2.jpg

The bar made a huge differnce - the rear actually follows the front of the car, rather than wallowing behind it. It has really tightened the car up, even on the lowest setting - now I see why everyone on said swapping rear bars is the best mod (especially for the wagon).

I have to order the front sway bar for the links I already have. I still have to install "Legacy" sill plate accents and a SPT sticker on my hitch (if I can find it).

I still want to get the rear strut tower brace, and a Baja turbo hood, but my priorities have changed to child #2, so those may not come for awhile .

Your wagon is fantastic. Keep on enjoying yourself and may God bless you with a healthy new baby birth down the road.

Your wagon is still another unique Subaru I like looking at when I duck in here. Great work. (Btw, how loud ARE those Hellas once they're hooked up?)

Oh, and the color combination (body paint + gold rims) is niiiiiice. Later!

Thank you. The Hellas are hooked up, along with the stockers, so they are incredibly loud, and don't sound too bad. They are a good way to REALLY express your disappointment with your fellow drivers

The SPT was a great choice - direct bolt on and sounds good. It is not any louder than stock, b ut increases the growl/rumble. Mine doesn't look like much as I went with the turn-down tip rather than the straight out to avoid clearance issues with my trailer hitch. It sounds sweet at high rpm though. No vid clips though - I think there are a few clips here somewhere.

JDM GT-B suspension installed (front and rear), and now she rides and corners like a dream. I also picked up the gold trimmed GT-B badge for the rear. I actually ended up with a drop in the rear, and a very slight rise in the front  . I need to get a set of Prodrive springs for the front to get a drop similar to the rear - and to bring my headlight beams down to where they should be  . I am sure happy though that I have a trailer hitch, or I would be dragging my bumper on a regular basis in my driveway.

I was thinking of picking up a set of the Bilstein suspension for my BE but was concerned about the rise in the front end. From the pics at the beginning of the thread, this does not seem noticeable. Do you have a side shot of your car. Is the ride much different than with the stock GT suspension. Which prodrive springs would I need to lower the front to the same level as the rear?

Cheers

More info please!

My local Subaru master tech suggested that I go for the updated ECU reflash - he said it had newer maps for engine and tranny (auto). He sent it in to the dealer for the reflash - didn't really make that much of a difference, but didn't cost much either.

Here is the latest shot of the car, as well as close-ups of front and rear gaps...

The suspension is definatley worth it - greatly reduces dive, lift, and lean and is not harsh or choppy. It feels like my stock bugeye did, maybe even a bit better - definatley feels like a different car. The front just needs to be dropped an inch or more.

Not sure what Prodrives to get as I have not done much research, but I have heard that Prodrive springs for the Legacy complement well the GT-B struts.

LegacyRob
11-14-2007, 03:35 PM
Damn, that's pretty drastic. I don't think I'd like that kinda drop. I'd probably look into get taller springs in the rear to level up to the front. Now it's time for you to get some slotted rotors and hawk pads.

sansMYSTi
11-15-2007, 11:31 AM
I had never actually intended to drop the car, and I did not realize that I would get a drop out of the GT-B suspension (rear anyway). But I do like the drop I got in the rear, and intend to drop the front accordingly - I would just have to be more careful with the ingress/egress of driveways, even more so than I was with MYSTi.

Unfortunately with two kids, a wife on maternity leave, and starting our own business in January, new rotors are out of the question - though front springs are a necessity to get the car to sit right. I find the car stops fairly well on stock rotors/pads/calipers anyway - I am not planning on returning to autoX with the Leg anyway. My goal was to improve the handling first, then work on the brakes - eventually doing what little I can short of a motor swap for more power.

GT-B is a tuned version of the Legacy Wagon only. I'm wondering if I got a set from a B4 RSK , would there be a similar drop.

11-19-2007, 10:12 AM
how much lower is the GT-B supposed to be in comparison to the stock USDM GT suspension?

sansMYSTi
11-19-2007, 11:25 AM
I have to check the part numbers, but the suspension I bought was supposed to be out of a BH GT-B. I am still not sure why the rear dropped so much and the front lifted. Maybe the GT-B is heavier in the front, I dunno. I just know that I need to do something about the gap in the front - the car looks like I am either carrying something heavy in the rear, or I am accelerating really fast all the time  .

Unless it has been dropped, here is how a GT-B rides...
https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2007/11/legacy-1.jpg

I have got a similar drop in the rear, but I need to bring the front down to where the above is (probably about a one inch drop).

The ride is pretty much the same as it was with the Bilstein's before the spring swap, but now it sits where it should.

The drop is 1.5 inches in the front, and 1.3 in the rear from stock. Pretty much exactly what I wanted. Not what you would call "slammed", but definitely "hunkered". It now sits about 3 inches lower than my wifes Outback

Just got my new (to me) headlights this morning. I was originally looking for some OEM used headlights that I could bake, leaving my old set for backups if I screw up the clearing or if we break a headlight on one of our cars, but then I saw these. They were advertised as JDM non-HID's, and required some re-wiring to work with the USDM model. They were already cleared stock, so it saved me some trouble (sort of). So after some hacking and splicing of the high beam and low beam connectors (the others were plug and play), the new ones bolted right in. Now all 4 corners are clear.

Did you get your headlights corrected for LHD, if not let me know how serious the blinding of oncomming traffic is. I have two sets of JDM headlights, the ones on my car have been corrected but they are not as nice as the other pair that have not been corrected.

I haven't driven the car at night yet to see, but I do not think they have been corrected. I took a knee in front of the car when I installed them, and they seemed to be as level as my previous stock set. I assume that you mean the RHD lights have a taller oblique pattern on the left side of the car to light up the side of the road, so if placed on a LHD car, the pattern is too tall on the left for on-coming traffic.

Well it's all relative I think. You can run around with some pretty crappy aligned headlights in NYC and absolutely no one will bother to flash you.

If you can live with notion that they are meant for a RHD car, then I don't really think it's imperative that you modify it to LHD.

Side shot of the light - they look the same as my former JDM Rev A's (cleared), but much more light.

The previous owner had a clear bulb for the running light, an amber for the signal, and a standard bulb for the high beam. I want to get a running light and high beam bulb similar color to match the HID, and I will try again to get the proper PIAA signal that is amber but chrome covered - I did get a set before, but the "posts" on the bulb were the wrong configuration. I also want to see if I can find some fog light bulbs that match in color to the HID's, so I am not fixing yellow and white.

Update for new JDM grill.

Old and flaking paint grill with silver accent, black middle bar and black background emblem

New almost pristine grill with black chrome accent/middle bar and red background emblem to match the Hellas behind better (not really seen in dark pic)

Unfortunately I ended up damaging the old grill as the mounting hardware was rusted together - the captured bolts we set into the plastic grill so when the rusted nuts wouldn't turn, even with penetrating oil, the plastic simply broke holding the bolts, so I ended up loosing half of the mounting points for the old grill that I had intended repainting and using as a backup. I can reuse as I think there are enough mounting points left, but it will never be the same. The new grill mounting hardware received a coating of anti-seize and fluid film so when I get a turbo Baja hood one of these days, I won't have to break this grill off.

New pics as well

Picked up an interesting find from eBay - a set of JDM front sill scuff plates, Both have a small ding, but they still look much better than the scratched plastic stock ones. I have already installed them, took about 5 minutes, but it is dark and the car is a freaking mess inside and out, so not a good time for pics. I may take them off in the spring and paint the plastic parts grey to match the interior, or I may just get use to them. A simple and relatively cheap mod! Now I just have to find the rears to match

I am in the mood for more mods, but no cash after x-mas. I have a CAI, high flow cat, and a set of UL headers that will tease me until tax refund time.

Just curious, how much clearance do you have in the front and the side skirts from the ground? Thanks

Beautiful car...

Beautiful car...

Thanks. With all of the snow we have gotten recently, and will continue to get, I have not had a chance to go out and measure. I will see what I can do.

No worries, I don't need to know right away so when you get around to it that would be great, thanks.
