impact wrench

ok i'm looking for suggestions of a good cheap (inexpensive not quality) impact wrench that can do some of the more heavy duty stuff on my car. I'm looking for at least 400ft-lb torqu capability and a 1/2 drive. let me know what you all have or suggest. thanks!

It really depends on what air compressor you're running and what flow (CFM) it's able to run.

Expect to pay $80-120 for a 400ft/lb+ impact, but it's money well spent when you're screaming at a stupid tranny bolt.

Yeah, this would be in anticipation of doing rear subframe bushings, whiteline ALK, and just to help reduce the strain on my body for other simple stuff. I'm not sure of the flow rate of my compressor, however i do know it's pretty damn beastly as we used to run 2 heavy duty flooring nailers from it at the same time all day long when i did hardwood flooring, and it's still running strong ~5 years later.

I'll check the specs on it before buying an impact though.

-Huffer, thanks for the knowledge but i was looking more for an idea of what brands (and models i suppose) are most reliable, not crazy expensive, and will have enough "ooomph" to get the job done. I don't need a crazy nice $600 IR 1000ftlb beast

Well, without knowing your flow rate any recommendation people give you isn't going to be reliable.

I have a Sunex, got it from work, ~425ft lbs (350ish working), 1/2", pretty solid, not a generic piece of shit.

i ran mine off a little Porter Cable pancake compressor, doesn't require a high dollar high cfm compressor, good for wheels and stuff.

Mine came in a case with some sockets and an inline oiler which i wouldn't use if you plan on paint or anything.
