AT to MT transmission swap questions READ HERE FIRST
OK, so this seems to come up a lot. Yes, it is possible to convert your car that has a 4eat automatic to a manual. However, most of the time it is more cost efficient for you to sell the automatic car and buy a manual one than it is to do the swap.
If you're going to do the labor yourself, or don't have the option of getting another car for some reason, here is a writeup on how to go about it.

Also, the process is much easier if done in conjunction with a motor swap of some kind. See the other sticky for more information in that department.

Wow, I finally read this all the way through and I have to say, amazing work. This really helps me get an idea of what I'll need to do in my own ride.

My JDM motor came from an AT, and I had a MT in mine. The clutch plate was fairly worn, so I bought a new clutch kit to install, and it was easy since the motor wasn't in the car anyway.

I'm going to go ahead and make a new thread on Sl-i with PICTURES when I swap mine for all you that may be looking to swap a 2nd gen.

I also posted this on the legacygt forums but thought I would ask on here too. Im looking at buying a donor and just wondering how much wiring needs to be swapped over? The MT cars dont have EGR either I thought so ill prob swap the intake out too.

So, yes, I'm going to do the labor myself. Yes, I have a COMPLETE parts car next to the recipient in the garage. Is there a complete list anywhere of everything I need/can take off the donor car to make the transplant as factory as possible?
Donor car is a 96 EJ22E Brighton w/ 5 MT
Receiving car is a 97 EJ25D GT w/ 4eat

Yes, I checked the link. I get the hard parts side of thing. The shifter parts, transmission, drive shaft, rear diff, starter, blah blah blah. What I can't seem to find anywhere is anybody that has converted the parts of the cars harness that are AT specific to the MT specific bits. If such a thing is even possible without hacking everything apart that is.
Re: AT to MT transmission swap questions READ HERE FIRST
You would have to change the whole front part of the body harness to do the wiring complete.
Re: AT to MT transmission swap questions READ HERE FIRST
I have a friend with a manual outback (same gen donor car) that is willing to swap out the transmission, drive shaft, rear diff, ecu, etc.. I know going from auto to manual is a lot of work in itself with wiring and modifying things to fit. Could the donor car(currently manual) be replaced with all the automatic parts I took off my car, could I put my automatic trans and everything back in the donor car and have it work? My whole swap is relying on this. Let me know what you guys think I can do about the situation.
