Over the summer I was on my way to work and saw a modded WRX and an RS sitting at the local Subaru dealership owner's house. I talked it over with my parents (seeing how I already had a GT sedan and an L wagon sitting at my house) and we agreed to buy a newer car with less miles to use for college. Went to the dealership the next day to find out the WRX was automatic and ended up convincing the owner to sell the RS.

The car already had 5% rear tint and 20% front tint, professionally done, as well as a full sound system (headunit, speakers, tweeters, all amped). Upon getting it home I immediately installed a front strut bar, Hella Supertones, Blue interrior lights, moved my possesions into the car, and gave it a good wash. Modding stopped there until recently. I purchased some Hella foglights, Rally Armor mudflaps, JDM blue I badge, Kartboy shift knob, JDM side markers, JDM front spats, WRX sway bar, dual tip stromung catback, and 8000k Hid kit.

Currently the foglights, shift knob, I badge, and HID kit is installed and this weekend we'll be installing the side markers, spats, and sway bar. Waiting on the stromung to come in the mail and going to pick up the headers in about 2 weeks or so. The mudflaps scraped the pavement too much so it was best to part with them.

    Transition from stockish to current

    More pics to come

The RS is one of my favorite Subies, and if they weren't so rare I would have one right now. I looked for one for about 6 months before I decided to get a Legacy.
But yours is looking clean, awesome car.

sorry Chuck, had it in my head that it was for subarus in general and other brands in members rides II

On another topic, ended up wrecking the RS on the way home. Tire came off the bead and thus I spun around, slid backwards at about 60 mph across the highway, then had the front end swing around and contact a rock hill. Only damage I saw was the tire off of the rim and some slight scratches in the bumper. Still got it out being on an incline in 3 inches of snow and with 3 tires..Gotta love good old Subaru. I'll post up pictures on sunday along with an update.

I bought the car in June without a warranty. Just got home from the garage and they said that the tire is perfectly fine, it just slipped off the bead. $12.72 later I drove home.

After I got the bumper out of the bank

definitely was lucky on this one

So today we installed a wrx rear sway bar and clear side markers. unfortunately the spats didnt line up right?? so we traded them for a rallitek rear diff skid plate. I probably wont install it so once I snap a pic it'll show up in the classifieds. I also ended up buying a driver wrx seat from 2002-2003 for $25 that will have to get installed.

Wow, i love it. As well i am jealous too! I would of much rather had one of these.

On a side note, ditch the HID kit until you can actually retrofit projectors. Simply putting in an HID kit into the stock housing actually makes the lighting worse and blinds oncoming traffic.

In my opinion they increased the ability to see at night but havent seen if they bother people or not. I do have projectors but no spare crystal headlights to retrofit.

    Re: GTDrifter's 2000 Impreza RS

Love the looks of those, theres a guy not too far from me selling a silver one just like yours for 5800. I have cash to buy it and could even keep my Legacy, or sell to recoup some money. But Im passing this up, Ill probably regret it later.

And I agree about ditching the hids till you retrofit the headlights, especially with 8000k. I refuse to get hids until i do that, and a friend on mine thinks Im crazy. Iv explained several times how much better you can see with and that they dont blind other drivers but he still argues against them

    Re: GTDrifter's 2000 Impreza RS

I'm not saying that projectors with HID lights wont increase visability and not blind other drivers, I'm simply just saying that HIDs without projectors helps me see at night and probably blinds other drivers. I don't face that much traffic so its not so much of a problem. I'll retrofit as soon as I get a spare set of headlights to do so

more pics if my computer doesnt act up again

    Re: GTDrifter's 2000 Impreza RS

another update: We realized that the stromung exhaust was modded for a turbo exhaust and wouldnt match up right so we needed to get an extension to weld up the flange from my stock midpipe which were planning on completing sunday night. while under the car my friend noticed that i had single port heads so thatll effect future mods. I'll post pics after I remember where I put my camera.

Currently looking at an sti block with wrx heads, je pistons, and everything needed to swap except a turbo. Seller said he'll include alot of mods and parts and open his garage in which case I may have anything I want. He just sold his Impreza and wants to get rid of anything. Got half of the amount saved up in 2 weeks and I have about a month to get the rest before the summer and I move. Hopefully I can get the engine before the summer and if it turns out as planned then there will be a for sale thread of extra parts to get money together for a 6 speed so i can fun the engine full power.

    Re: GTDrifter's 2000 Impreza RS

So I'm ditching the sti block and looking at getting a jdm ej20t from a fellow member. The sti block costs too much and would just bee too expensive in the long run with 2 tunes and a 6 speed. so close to affording the new engine and am starting tossing around the idea of doing a minor part out to get the money quicker. Got diagrams from a well known company on merging the harnesses and a buddy of mine is a subaru mechanic (cant beat that right?). Decided I'm staying in PA this summer rather than moving so well be parking my rs for the swap and doing the swap over the week while I drive my wagon.

Got blue neon tube lights from a friend for free so they will be going into the trunk. You may call it ricey but I don't care cause it'll be nice to have a trunk light. Still have to weld a new flange on my stromung dual tip catback. Went to install the axleback portion for the time being but the flanges on my stock exhaust are chipping away and the bolts are too rusted to budge. Tried pb blaster but more of the flange disappeared. Can't weld the flange on because a friend and i are working on swapping his auto impreza to a manual with a new engine and lack of parts and time is making it take longer than it should. The swap isn't as big of a deal as people make it out to be, just as long as you have a donor car like we did and remember where plugs go and where parts got moved to.
