    First subaru

Hey, Just wanted to introduce myself to the forum. My names Dave, I live on the east coast of canada in nova scotia. I just acquired this little gem through a friend of mine who is a technician at a Subaru dealership in town. Came in on trade long story short I got in it for a whopping $300. 96 subaru legacy wagon (BK) , 2.2L, 5mt. The car came from Edmonton so it is in quite good shape underneath. Still has the original exhaust and heat shields! My friend looked at it all over and came to the conclusion it needs nothing to pass for a new 2 year mvi as the one on it was up in a month. Plans for now are to just drive it and maybe start with suspension and wheel's as I've been putting another car together for a couple years now and will be ready for spring, That car in question is a 94 sentra with a sr20det I swapped in and all kinds of suspension and supporting mods, Anyway look forward to learning more about subaru's!! Also the layout is pretty much the same for this forum compared to the sr20-forum I use for my sentra so shouldn't have any issues navigating through here! Dave

That's a nice blank slate foot just over $300.

Judging by the fact that it has a Subaru battery in it, I bet the previous owner serviced it at the dealership, so that's a plus.

Yea, I knew as soon as my friend jamie called me on this by how excited he was I had to buy it! Sight unseen for the most part, Lol. The price was just icing on the cake. As far as I'm aware it's been dealer maintaned since being in nova scotia. oem battery, oil filter, timing belt was done not to long ago same with the clutch. Dave

Thanks, for now im mostly going to just drive it and slowly work on suspension and brake's. My friend who got me this car is building a 97 gt wrx swap and has all kinds of parts laying around so I'm sure some stuff will trickle down to me once he gets his together. But like you said when I'm ready to go forced induction I'm sure I will have some question's for everyone, but not after reading up myself. Dave

well got my sentra on the ground finally.

    [IMG][/IMG]

Havent even got a chance to clean the subaru since I got it. Damn weather just been brutal, snowing today so I stopped at the superstore parking lot on my way to work this morning for some sideways fun. She's driving great, Havent had any issues with her. What a gem!

Well, Picked up a cargo basket and scored an oem rubber trunk tray for $40. Just got to figure out how I'm going to mount the basket. Gonna make a thread for that and get some opinions.

Well did my first mod to the subaru yesterday. My friend had an outback bumper laying around that he was going to use on his but decided not to go that route so he hooked me up. Both fogs were busted so I'm thinking of replacing them with hella 500 driving lamps, also need to get the proper grille, Lol.

Got some wheels from a friend, He just lent them to me until I can find something abit more perminent and a guy he works with sold me a mint set of dunlop tires for $120. Forester rims, I think they look really good! My buddy's forester in the back lurkin, he put a set of saab wheels powder coated black on that and I scored his for the time being. Lol

    [IMG][/IMG]

Me and my buddy's 98 with full wrx swap (same guy with forester) after he swapped my summers on and got his wrx wheels on. Guy he worked with buffed his car and it came out great, Really brought the paint back on his.

    [IMG][/IMG]

I also did the rear wiper mod, forgot to take a pic and scored a free cargo cover. Some guy left a note on my windshield asking if wanted it too call him. So I did and he came through. Hahaha

Went and stripped a 99 outback for a bunch of parts. $200 and I took whatever I wanted. So first off we swapped my crappy seats for some really good shape leathers front and back!

    [IMG][/IMG]

Installed some fo wood grain trim peices. Not sure if im going to keep the automatic woodgrain trim. I think it looks kind of weird with the stick shift. Also installed the cluster aswell but I"m having issues with it currently. I followed the diy post on this but the speedo doesnt seem to work and my rpm is off so gotta do some of my own research there. Scored that momo wheel locally for a great price.

    [IMG][/IMG]

Got the front sway bar, rear was dickered. Took front and rear bumpers, hood with scoop, rear pass door cause mine is banged up, trim peices, map light with sunglasses pocket and a couple other small items I'm forgetting.

Also went to a little subie meet about 3 hours away from where I live, didn't get many pics though phone was about to die. Here's me and my friends wrx swapped legacy. Saw someone on here I believe with the smile face fogs and my hellas hadn't arrived so decided to make some covers for the drive up because wind was going into those big ass hole's and pulling the car.

Yea love the way this car is coming together! Unfortunately the wheel does not plug in. Plug end are reversed. The momo wheel has a female plug while the regular wheel had a male plug. For now I just took the airbag bulb out of the cluster. I'm not sure I want to try and figure what wire does what for sake of blowing the thing up. The guy I got it from said it was a version 3 or 4 wheel. For 60 bucks I was grabbing it regardless. Haha

Well I scored a pretty sick deal on a complete set of jdm wrx/sti suspension and got around to throwing it on. It did come off a sedan so i do have the infamous saggy butt, I'll be looking to correct this with proper springs for the wagon in the future but spacers will have to do for now (on the way). Compared to the old worn out original suspension it's night and day but who ever had them before me I think jacked the dampening up all the way as I feel every little bump in the road and they seem extremely firm. I'm a little scared to try and adjust them at all at this point. They had originaly sent me 2 pairs of rear struts, 02-03 and a set of 04-up. They ended up sending me the fronts after I called them out on it so I now have another set of rears for spare, Lol. Also the front they sent me had group n top hats! Couple pics..

Finally got around to putting the matching leather door card inserts in that I pulled with the seats from an outback awhile ago, also put the sunvisors with vanity mirrors/lights in and limited speakers fron and back, had to cut out the rear panel and fit the speaker grille (pretty straight forward). Gonna wire the lights up when I put the map light with sunglasses pocket in. Also hoping to get my hella 500ff in and jdm projectors before the weekend as there is a big subaru meet here on sunday! Also need to get side skirts and rear lip on.

I also replaced the rear view mirror as it was seperating

Coming along nicely. Need to find a scooped hood and rear spoiler for this. Those 08 WRX wheels look great on the wagon.

Thanks, I actually grabbed the scooped hood from the outback I got alot of the interior stuff from. It's white so I think I'm going to put that on after winter. Gonna color match the front bumper, hood and mid wing I just picked up and the rear pass door as its dented in abit from the previous owner, front pass door should be able to pop the little dent out and buff her. Grabbed the door off the outback aswell.

Got around to installing my jdm projectors! Took'em apart and corrected the light pattern before installing and put some ddm tuning hid's in aswell. So much better than the stock headlights!!!!

Also got around to wiring up the heated seats I put in from an outback several months ago. The passenger side doesnt seem to work! Gonna take the seat apart and check the element for any signs of damage. Also the illumination bulbs in the switches are burnt out.

You can check the elements without disassembling the seat. Unplug the connector and check for resistance between all the pins. There are 3 pins on the seat side, and they should all have continuity for each pair combination.
