What did I do wrong then? I went here http://www.csgnetwork.com/compcalc.html to calculate the compression. Are my inputs off or is the calculator off?

I just tried that same combo of parts on that same calculator and got 8.52:1, which is the same as what I came up with when using the EJ22T head gasket. So, either that calculator is being crazy, or you have gotten 22T head gaskets.

That calculator is broken then. I got the EJ22T style gasket, but got custom .08in thickness cause I remember we were trying to get as close to 8.5:1 as we could. Wish we would have caught this when I was building the motor Oh well, 8.3:1 just means more space to fill with air.
