Ok. im going to try to attempt to do something foolish this winter. I know im not the first and after searching have yet to find anything out on the web. I was inspired by the website car-part.com in their simple layout and design. What I want to do is create a small website (maybe hosted by sl-i.net) that will simply show what fits what. Subaru's are known to the car world as lego cars but at the same time some thing swill fit, and some things will not. Will the tranny from a 97 outback fit my 92 legacy? and vice versa. I just gotta figure out the best way to configure and put the information together. all I know is that it will take A lot of typing. Maybe not all that much time if I get some help.

I would love to set the mini site to be from 90-2008 to encompass the full range of the EJ and H6's out there.

let me know what you guys think and if it is even worth it.

So basically you're building a cross referencing database. So each part needs to have a fitment or set of fitments listed against it. Shouldn't be too hard but you should start out small and add parts with references as you go.

This is essentially the same as any of the parts websites but you're using Subaru oem parts.

exactly. so I will start out With Engine... Then transmission. And then from the Diffs, and get a bit more complicated.

Ill figure it out. What else is a Snowboarding Subaru addict college drop out going to do over the winter!

I'm going to use this thread as an idea portal. I figure, start on one part and move along to the next. like what you were saying, header, exhaust etc. I just have to figure out the best way to set it up....Maybe a nice big PDF with internal links showing each individual car and what fits ...... its a work in progress. just gotta move and wait for things to slow down quickly.

Make sure to add a little column that says minor modification required or heavy modification required. Cuz I know some things will fit if you do a little grinding and sawing here and there.

One thing i will need which Im hoping someone on this site has or has access to is an OEM parts program or access to the OEM parts website...

Im assuming this is all for straight bolt-on right? A lot of people seem to have an aversion to the occasional need for a grinder or drill :smt017 :smt030

exactly. I just want to start it off with what lego parts fit other lego parts. after that is done I will move it to other modifications from other years etc. such as. Will these seats from a WRX fit my 98gt? and explanations on yes, no and tits and tidbits to get them going in the right direction.

The real reason why I wanted to start this was after finding NOTHING on final gear ratios for most years. they have them for the WRX/sti's but nothing for other models etc. kinda got me pissed a bit so I figured, if it isnt out there, then I will make it.

Keep in mind, some things will fit/work, IF you change other parts, as well. You've got to figure out how you're going to handle things like that. Like 05+ STi wheels, you can put them on your Legacy, if you swap over most of the STi powertrain. ;) And simpler things, like stuts. Some will work, if you use the topmounts designed for your car, instead of the car the struts came from. This could potentially be a MASSIVE project.

Are you talking about US or Japanese cars or what? I can definitely give you all gear ratios for any car here (Japan). In fact, I can supply you with lots of info (only J-spec cars though). I can't help you with the fitment thing however...

I got injured on the job (fell on the blade of my snowboard and snapped half my ribs), so I'm out for awhile recovering with workers comp. this will be done though.
