I can't believe what I just saw..... I mean, usually they wreck Crown Vics which are plentiful and cheap, and while I used to own a couple I don't really mind when I see one die.
I've also owned a few Neons, and a few Legacys.....
So when I just saw them drive both a 1st gen Neon (DOHC too!) and a MANUAL TRANSMISSION BG LEGACY OUTBACK off a CLIFF.........(!)
I died a little.
I coulda used some parts off that Outback.
It did sound bad assed as it flew over the camera, throttle pegged..... not so much as it landed on its roof. Twice. :smt022

Well dont leave us hanging. Did it explode? Did the neon explode? I would think the Dodge would explode more than the Suby. I need to know if I have to worry about exploding if I by chance happen to drive off a cliff.
..explode.

just watched it, omg so sad, 98 wagon model went end over end about 200 ft down the side of the cliff, no explosion but it was a mess, roof collapsed entirely inside the car, no one could have survived that one thats for sure. had a good laugh when i saw the inside of it before they launched it, whoever owned it before them put in aftermarket pedals XD

Those weren't aftermarket pedals, the pads were just missing.

My wife laughed at me when I started repeating "Oh no, no no no, oh no, no nooooo".
She said "What, do you want some parts off it or something?"

screw parts i would have taken the whole car lol
Watched the first part of this last night on my DVR. Well the car didn't explode because as the guys on Mythbusters pointed out the fuel tank on the Legacy/Outback is well designed and protected by the axle, wheels, etc. I've seen a Neon hit a concrete pillar and erupt into flames within seconds. Fortunately the lady driving it got out in time and lived to tell the tale.
Interesting that of all cars they did pick an Outback though, and it turned out to even be a rarish manual transmission model. Maybe they wanted something with AWD so it would actually get up to speed in the low traction situation.
I can only hope that it was a really cheap worn out Outback with blown head gaskets or something or it really would have been a shame to destroy it - but then again I've seen Mythbusters destroy all sorts of perfectly good things so why do I even bother

Threads merged. At least we know the bg is a good one to avoid onimpact explosions.

Funny, because we got a BRAND NEW Mazda 6 towed in from an accident last night. Light rear corner hit that moved the wheel in MAYBE 2 inches, and the suspension punctured the gas tank.

well, if there ever was a freak accident that caused our tanks to explode the first ones to go would be the poor bastards sitting in the back heh.
