foggy window problems

anyone got a cure for really foggy windows? winter time always seems to mean they fog up, or if i have friends in the car they fog up to the point where i cant see, and the defroster only affects the windshield and front windows which means no visibility on the sides or rear

Does your AC work? If no, then that's part of your problem.

Does the car fog up on it's own? If so, then that's another part of the problem. Could be a clogged drain for your HVAC system or something in the car is damp, wet, or there's a hole in the body, letting moisture in constantly.

One thing you can do is use newspaper to clean your windows, it apparently can remove stuff from the windows and help keep them from frogging up.

If your AC works, then after your windshield and front windows defog, set the car to recirc, and BILEVEL, turn the heat up, turn the AC on, and crank up the blower. That should heat the car, defog your windows, and prevent it from fogging up more. Remember to set it back to fresh air if your windshield fogs back up and you put it to defrost mode.

you now wat i do it sound wierd but works just mix corn starch and water so its kinda think like a milk shake and rub it on the windows then wipe it off it works good and my windows dont fog up much for a couple months and are sparkaly clean no streaks at all i think its better then windex

Hehe, that is true... One day he went crazy and licked every inch of my window, and no matter what I did, I couldn't get the residue off. I swear that dog eats glue...

The little vents on the dashboard near the doors can be angled so that they blow towards the side windows - that will help a little. You can also set the main vents to blow towards the window and put it in the two-level defrost/floor setting.

thanks, ill try that last bit, if that doesnt work ill try the corn starch/water solution

hello there mate. I know that my post here is too late and I do apologize for that. I'm interested at the topic here. Actually we almost have the same problem. Especially during winter times, I'm having a hard time driving because my windshield is almost covered by fogs resulting into zero visibility. It is very risky to drive if thats the situation. After washing my car's mirror and windshield, I put some old newspapers to dry it and I'm using a special type of wax which is a very big help for me.

1. Glass clean up. Wipe down with a shop towel
2. Alcohol and wipe down. This will remove any oils that stuff might be clinging to.

The rest of it might just be your HVAC putting a lot of moisture into the system. My car isn't particularly good at not fogging up in the winter no matter what I do.

Wow this is an old thread lol. Yea the key I found is to keep the windows clean, which is a plus because ive become obsessed with clean windows(side benefit, less reflections, less glare then if you have "the haze")
