JDM Tail Lights

A quick question for those that have a set, do they have SAE or DOT stamped into them anywhere? Reason I ask is that in this state it is a requirement for state inspection. Thanks.

Wow.. they actually check it? Damn. If no one gets back to you, next time I see my car I can check. Its sort of doubtful they will have those certifications however.. because aren't those American anyways?

As far as I know, yes they are US certifications. I did not want to assume. Yes they do check, I am an inspector myself.

If they are JDM then they will not have a DOT stamp, as there would be no reason since Japan does not follow our regulations and could care less about marking it as such. Your best bet would be to use the outer JDM pieces and keep your center garnish, which might say it (I don't have a 2nd gen so I don't know)

The BE does not say it on it's JDM tails, fyi.

However, I was under the impression that all that is required for visual inspection is a red reflector for the rear and amber for the front, regardless of DOT stamping. Not 100% on this either since CO doesn't do in-depth visuals.

EDIT: Or just keep your stockers and throw them on before inspection....
