Can anyone answer if the 2.5 turbo head gasket will fit on the 2.5 normally aspirated engine and if so would this help the blown head gasket problem on ej25 n\a

The n/a dohc headgaskets has been updated.
The n/a sohc headgaskets have not been updated.
(last that I heard)

So yes, you can use a turbo headgasket on a n/a sohc.
that's what I did to our rs25.

What motor are you talking about?

don't put STI headgaskets in a NA DOHC 2.5, it doesn't work. It'll run, but valves will kiss pistons.

+1 on what Grayguy said. Aren't STi headgaskets a different thickness to lower compression? That might mess up your timing...

Why do you want to do this anyways? Why not just get some updated cosmetic gaskets?

+1 on cometic Headgasket

The reason why the valves will kiss the pistons is because our pistons on the EJ25D(Phase 1 EJ25) the pistons clear the deck. So yea thinner HG is not an option for us

Sux, but its reality unfortunately :smt004

Ive used the STi 2.5 gasket on a 2.2/2.5 frankmotor. Just use the OEM gasket though, there is nothing wrong with them now.

I knew Subaru made a bottom end where the pistons cleared the deck, but I didn't know it was the EJ25D.

Anyone know, btw, when the EJ25DE was available with AVCS? Someone on NASIOC bought an engine, and it most obviously has AVCS, and is most obviously DOHC, and NA (unless they sold this person a turbo motor for $700 shipped lol)

Are you sure its AVCS?
Wiki Linky (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AVCS)

According to Wikipedia AVCS was introduced in 06/07.

Are you sure this dude didn't get screw into a 1996 EJ25D, IIRC they have hydrolic heads. Or just maybe this dude got a turbo motor... dunno. Does the motor have a VIN tag? You can probably tell by that

No VIN tag... Unless someone put AVCS cams on a non AVCS motor. Either that, or it's really a turbo motor, is the only thing I could think of. Cheap for a turbo motor!
