'preza RS?

I found my dream scoob today... and it was FOR SALE! :shock:

a 1998 Impreza 2.5RS, WR Blue and gold rims. $4500, books for approx. $6200.

There's one problem... its a 4EAT :x But these cars are insanely hard to find in the area, and would live with an AT if that's all I could get...

Opinions?

Its an auto. :( I could never drive an auto, no matter how cool the car might be..... Unless its an older muscle car.

sti swap? tranny's can be changed... and that IS a steal... hell buy it and then sell it for book...

You will be sorry for 3 reasons. 1 its a auto, 2 it's a RS and not a WRX and 3, it's not a Legacy 8) If you plan on getting another car don't settle, at some point you will regret it...trust me :wink:

Correct about swaps, there would definetly be a 5MT or 6MT swap, not sure about the STi swap though...


If you plan on getting another car don't settle, at some point you will regret it...trust me :wink:

I settled and bought a Legacy... Was originally looking to get an RS, but couldn't find one... This is the first one I have found, let alone one for sale in four years... I actually wanted the RS over the WRX... If it kills me that its not boosted, I'm sure someone will wreck theirs and I can get the powerplant :twisted:

Do you have the money for the car, engine and labor(if you don't do it) then go for it.

Badbasser, don't buy it unless you are prepared to do the work for a swap, and it's not as straightforeward as it sounds. Also, if you are planning on doing an extensive turbo drivetrain swap (like me) you might as well just get a brighton impreza for a lot less dollars. I got a 93 L (4 door but thats what I wanted) for 1500 bucks, saved me tons on the total project budget. Also, remember swapping the manual trans isnt just the part you hold in your right hand, but you have to put an entire clutch control assembly in there as well. If a manual car is what you want, get one from the start. Buy it and do a turnaround, then you have the $$$ for the real project :twisted:

Well, it was a good dream... I will own one in the future, but now isn't the time... been saving up all winter for mods on the BE, can't let those plans slip away. When the BE is paid off, I am gonna buy either a MY98 (or so) WRX, or a Leggy SS.
