View Full Version : Axle and differential compatibility?
I'm looking to put a 91 Legacy Turbo 3.9 LSD in my 98 BK4. Both are presently the same ratio, so I don't need to worry about swapping gears and stuff.
What I am wondering is this: will I need different axles? I know that Impreza owners who have sourced Legacy differentials have found that they also need axles. Because mine is already a Legacy, should it just bolt in?

yes you need the axles. The old school legacy LSD has stubs on the rear diff - you need female axles. The R160 on your bk is the same unit found on 95+ imprezas, wrx's, and legacy's, which uses male axles.
That's exactly what I needed, thanks.
