3th gen legacy engine swaping question

is it worth doing it i mean i really like the 3th gen legacys but most people are telling me to go with the 4th gen legacy witch i like those too but for the most part i cant afford a 4th gen, and the way i was gonna do it is to get the 2000 legacy then save up for the swap should i do this or should i just wait and get a 4th gen?

It all depends on your personal perference and situation. Obviously if you need a new car now and only the 3rd gen is in your budget then you have to do what you have to do.

If you like tinkering with stuff swaps are fun. But by the time you've factored in the cost of the 3rd gen car and the swap parts and labor if you are having someone else do the swap you are approaching the cost of a good, reliable OEM 4th gen Legacy. And while you will have a swapped car, it will still be an older car and swapped cars do not retain the value of what you have put into it on the market so if you ever need to unload the car most of that money is sunk.

If you must have a fast turbo car you can consider a 2002 WRX. Good examples are floating around now for like $7k. If you are not in a hurry to get a car save up and get something that you will be happy with. By then the price will have fallen a little anyway.

well i was gonna do it if i could the only problem is the wiring thats the only thing, and the re sale value well i only want 3 cars in life this sounds crazy i know but i want this legacy 2th car in the future 350z or 370z 3th car the new camaro,i did think about a impreza 2.5 rs before the legacy but the legacy has more of a sleeper appeal and u hardly ever see one thats what draws me to them the most i guess, i mean id be happy with either the 3th gen or 4th gen but i guess we will see maybe i could do payments cause i wanted something that i could just pay in cash right there,how much do the swaps cost i heard someone said u can get a front end for like 2 to 3 grand?
