I'm getting the car re-tuned this weekend...hopefully with a full 3" exhaust installed. I'm not going to run any extra boost, just get the tuner to refine some of the fuel trims and hopefully get a little better throttle/turbo response.
Still using the same 19psi setup, was originally tuned and dyno'ed by ECS to 280whp/274tq (I think it was a dynojet). This time it's going to be on SpeedIndustry's Mustang "heartbreaker" dyno.
Last time my car was on that dyno, it made 113whp/124tq  (2.5ln/a with bolt-ons).

EDIT: I figured there should be at least some prize, so...closest to the actual numbers will win...something

no that's called having a 2.0L :smt005
If your tuner knows what you're doing more so than who ever tuned it first, it changes a lot of things. You're cheating by not telling us other important things like, IDC's, MAF ratings, Turbo size, and most importantly what even you have going on under the hood.
A 3" exhaust will only net you about 5hp if you don't tune right for it.
You should be right around the 295whp mark, run it at 12:1 with water and you'd hit 350 all day.

Naw, my 2.0 makes more torque than HP right now with how it's tuned. Or should. I don't know, no access to a dyno.

It's possible, especially if you use a really small turbo. And I'm not telling you the rest of the setup , the thread's just for fun (though you could cheat since I have it all listed in MR1 thread).

Hey Ben,
Long time no talk, good luck on Speed Industries Dyno, I heard that you were going in soon for a trans install and re-tune with the guys over there. I was just there a few weeks ago to tune a few cars out that way. I met everyone over there and they all seemed like top notch gents. IMHO their Dyno is spot on for a Mustang, it seemed to be on par with ours. I did not get a chance to meet the tuner there. Ill be honest though, I have learned A LOT since 2007 when I tuned your car last, don't be surprised if there some ponies left on the table, as i was very conservative back then, that and after you asking for a conservative tune, and knowing my style of tuning back then, I'd say there is room for improvement in your car! :) Keep us updated! I know I'm intrigued :) Hope all is well.

rofl Yeah, TD04 is pretty small. Plus, you can do things to get quicker spool, and I have done a few, and will be doing more in the (hopefully near) future.

Hey Paul,
I didn't know you were in the area, I wouldve pushed my tune date further up. Tony, their tuner, is a pretty solid guy - every import guy in the area, including peeps from canada, gets tuned by him. I saw youve done some upgrades to the shop as well (in-house dyno, no more roadtrips to tune cars?), looks great! All's good on my end, your old tune has held the engine together for all this time so it was exactly what I asked for. 6 speed feels good man  I'm getting another conservative tune though, no crazy race-gas or 25psi tune for me.

Would that even include a VF36/VF37/VF38/VF42? You gotta have friggin POCKETS to put one of those turbos on anything other than an STi.
Twinscroll manifold, UP, DP flange, usually costs around $800-$1200
Turbo, from $900 to $2300
Oil pan, oil pickup tube, injectors... For ME, I'd have to convert from top to side feed, so fuel rails, TGV housings (oh, SHOOT me), fuel pump... Probably another $500-$1000
If you're doing it on a motor equipped with heads that were originally NA, you have to tap for oil feed. Also, add in the waterbox, or at least coolant lines... Meh.
whatever, the VF36 is probably the only VF series turbo I'd run. I like low end too much to run any other 'large' turbo. If I could rev the engine in my WRX to 10,000 RPM, I'd run an FP Red or TD06 20G turbo. 10K isn't gonna happen, bearings go ESPLOAD!
Okay. I'm officially sleep deprived. Hitting 'submit' now. Hey, someone, change the 'Submit' button to say 'Submit, BITCH'?

And Congrats to JoshP for winning the contest! This Mustang dyno held its reputation for being a heartbreaker that's for sure, numbers for the day are 257whp/247wtq, while still using around 19-20psi. For perspective, a stock STI usually dyno's around 230-240whp on this particular dyno. As always, there could be more power to be had, but I always ask for conservative and safe tune.
For his mad-guessing skills, JoshP's won an STI badge that was originally on my front grille :smt023

On a brighter note, I now have launch control and flat-footed shifting programmed into the ECU (as if I would ever use such things :smt005 ). More importantly, the power delivery has been smoothed out noticeably, and the throttle is just a little more responsive on boost threshold- the car just pulls a little earlier and just keeps pulling all the way to redline. WOT afr's were leaned out a little bit into the mid 11's (used to be high 10's), among other tweaks by Tony, the resident SI tuner.
