View Full Version : painting headlight housing, but wat color?

i wan to paint my headlight housings but im not sure witch color, wat color shoul i paint it? i dont like yellow i want black but i think it might not reflect the light wat do you guys think? wat do you think blue would look like? im going to paint my headlights and fogs the same color, and my car is white and i have stock headlights no hids or projectors

will stained glass paint reflect alot of light still? even if its black?

You may want to check with your friendly state trooper about the legalities of painting your housings anything that isn't black...

i see people paint them yellow all the time just wondering if i could do the same but black and if it would still reflect alot of light if i use stained glass spray paint

People only paint the housings if they run projector lenses. If you have stock headlights then your bulbs NEED the reflective chromed plastic to bounce the light off.

People don't typically paint the housings yellow - they paint the lens.

stock mustangs come with black housing http://images04.olx.com/ui/1/37/11/4233611_1.jpg ill just leave some silver in the center. your just jealous that my car looks so good lol

i would leave the chrome reflective portion in tact and paint everything else outside the used reflective part. I tried painting my housing all black on my honda. even with an HID kit it wasnt nearly bright enough. But anyway i say go with black.

I never said you couldn't. I said you want to check on the legality of such mods BEFORE you get ticketed by an anal cop looking to boost their numbers.

You can typically get away with amber, black or chrome housings...because you are only supposed to project white or amber light ahead of the vehicle. Red, or amber to the rear (white only for reverse).
