Check this out on nabisco, its the guts of a WRX muffler, though, others have chimed in stating that other NA cars have similar mufflers, generally with even more chambers.

Neat thread. C'mon guys, did you really think these cars had very few restrictors on them?

I bet if you took a similarly engined Honda or Toyota, and cut up their muffler, you'd find the same sort of thing.

Funny thing is that crotch rocket mufflers look just like that. My brother and my friend bought brand new Ninjas this past summer and we gutted both of them. My friends 600 sounds better than my brothers 900. The 9 still has crap in there. We cut out what we could with a saws all and a torch. On the 600 will drilled out the rivets popped the sleeve cut the ends off and put the fiberglass chamber back in and damn it sounds good.

Yep. Out of curiosity, we cut my friend's old muffler up like that, off of his 92 Legacy, and it's the same idea. it's horrible.... and to think, I just put my stock muffler back on today... Bring on the restrictions

well, this is why a muffler is the most effective aftermarket exhaust item...because it is a huge improvement over stock

I'm getting my new one tomorrow. I'll be taking pics and then installing the exhaust thursday. Soundclip after that.
