wow, resurrected from almost a year ago. I ended up biting the bullet and buying an '04 WRX. Should have one of our turbos on it soon. I need to get the footwork setup first though, so it may not be until late spring, early summer. We are thinking about doing a v-mount + variable-vane turbo kit for GDs, should be pretty quick.

Here's a few pics of my old BD, it was a beater but it was a champ on the mountain roads. Not too many people could keep up with it when it was turbo. These pics are super old BTW

I forget actually! It was sitting on the shelf of a local shop years ago and I thought it would fit the BD well since it's along the same lines as the SYMS wing but carbon. It looked great on the car but if I were to do it again I would probably paint it to match.

The front bumper is a stock pre-facelift bumper modified slightly with a custom lip and small splitters and big fogs. You can also see the filter in the passenger side brake duct on the bumper. The hood is actually a stock hood with all the inside framework removed. I did this because I bought a JDM hood (w/scoop) for the intercooler and it ended up getting destroyed when it opened up on me at 110mph (!) and I had sold the original hood so I had to find another stock hood, which wasn't painted the same color. So I painted it matte black and used hood pins this time to be safe. I wish I had pictures of how I had the hood/intercooler setup when I was in college. Since I was back to a scoopless hood I made a sheet metal hood scoop that attached to the intercooler and had a cutout for it on the hood. It was a pretty square scoop but it was kind of cool having a "shaker" hood on a suby LOL. I will see if any of my buddies have any pics of it, because my camera was stolen from my apartment about a month into college so I don't have any of my own pics from that stage of the car's life :smt011

Thanks for the comments guys

Also thanks Huffer for starting this thread, this car was one of a kind in many ways, I'm glad to see some people with interest in it. However there is something that was not mentioned in the mod list above that is kind of trick.

I found the set of JDM 1-piece non-projector headlamps off ebay and pulled them apart to do a number of modifications. The housings were blacked out, the center "driving light" (JDM non-projectors only) were converted to white LED, the turn signals were cleared and "frosted". The coolest thing about these headlights is barely visible in the pics, probably best visible in the first pic but I installed a set of small round yellow beam fog lights inside the housings close the the grill. You could barely tell they were in there from the out side but it looked pretty mean when they were on. The yellow fogs with the huge rally lights and 6500k HIDs made mountain roads a breeze at night and in bad weather (which is when I did most of my spirited driving lol), plus it was fun having something that nobody else had or had ever done before. I know I have some pictures of these with the lenses off somewhere in my iPhoto library archives on my external hard drive, I'll see if I can find them.

Bump for pics! Pleeese!

Oops forgot all about trying to find those pics for you guys. Things have been crazy around here lately. Trying to finish three different kits and get them into production, I have two to dyno this week, and one (my WRX) to plan ahead for this spring! On top of that I haven't even thought about the holidays yet! Busy busy.

Hopefully I still have all my archived pics form my old iPhoto set form my last mac. I probably won't have time tonight, but I'll get around to looking for them sometime this week.

Thanks again. That thing looks like a hotrod.

By the way, what HAVE you been up to since posting? Any other Subarus/cars owned?

Why yes, there have been a few notable cars in my stable. After my BD I bought a '91 BMW E34 525 which I did a mild built on. Nothing big in the performance department aside from footwork, but it was just supposed to be stylish, nothing fast. VIP style was the goal.

After that I bought an S13 to get back into drifting. It's amazing how much fun you can have with a mostly stock KA24 lol. But I have since sold this car as well.

And here's a sneak peak of what I'm working on now. Soon to have all the footwork done by the end of winter and it will be getting one of our variable-vane turbos and a v-mount treatment this spring/summer.
