What he means is that....... Pull the code with an analizer. if you do not have one an auto parts store will do it for you. The code will tell you why cel came on.

yea dude, just cause you have a CEL doesnt mean your engine is cerslpoded.....

lol threads like this make me laugh.
almost any autoparts store will pull the code that is triggering your cel. get the specific code number and post it on here. as long as the engine is still running ok, its probably not serious, but it should be dealt with anyway.

so i just got the code read
PO440 *Evaporative Emission Control System Malfunction
what does this "really" mean, what wrong and how do i fix.
I know this has happened to others soooo..?

The evaporative emissions system is the system that captures vaporized fuel in the gas tank and purges it at appropriate times into the engine, keeping you from venting gas out to the atmosphere. That code just means that "something" is wrong with that system. It is very vague and would require further testing by a qualified mechanic. As a mechanic myself, that is one of my most hated trouble codes because it is so vague.
On the plus side, that is a very minor code. Really doesn't have a negative impact on anything aside from possibly the environment.
Could even be that you didn't tighten your gas cap...
