I just picked up some used KYB struts with GT springs for my 97 Brighton wagon.
Will my OEM 05 STi springs fit these struts and if so would this be a good setup for
a DD.

05 STi springs will fit the strut.
but you will need the matching (03+WRX/ STi) top-hats to suit the tapered rear springs.

i have a full set of 04STi gear in my 94 GT Leggy wagon.
great setup for a DD, stiff enough to give great handling, but not bone jarring

I have 04 STI springs with KYB AGX struts on my 96 Legacy, and the ride is way too harsh for a DD. I have some WRX springs that I plan to switch to them in the springs. Unless you have super-smooth roads, the bumpity-ness of the STI springs wears down your back muscles in a short time.

what damper settings are you running on the AGX's?
STi springs seem to need very good (stiff) valving to properly dampen the spring otherwise the typical STi "bobbly" ride does turn into an annoying bounce.

ui had similar issues when i upgraded teh springs on my Forester GT. they were too stiff for the struts and the strut could not effectively dampen the spring, resulting in a bouncy ride.

while i would not say that my STi gear in the leggy is the smoothest ride ever, there needs to be a compromise between handling and comfort, and i feel that stock WRX springs are not up to the task as far as handling goes.
but it is a personal preference too.

I've tried them at 2 and 3 for the fronts and really haven't messed with the backs too much, right now it's set about halfway. While the bumpity ride goes away, it's still to harsh for me as Washington has horrible roads.
