Driving through this mess it was nice to have the confidence of AWD! It was such a mess out there and I had to call work and tell them I was going to be late....................................CAUSE IT WAS TOO MUCH DAMN FUN! I took all, I mean all of the backroads this morning. Sliding around corners and plowing through clumps of snow. I ate up about a 1/4 tank though. :smt009 Love this Subaru! :smt007

that's nice, just don't think AWD makes you completely impervious to slippery conditions. You're still under the laws of physics

Yea I am not one of those drivers on the road I know my limits. I was just testing her out! ;). I am really good with car control though. And I brake early before a stop. I am used to rear wheel drive cars so I am used to catching the ass swinging out.

Ya we got dumped on last night, about 8" and today is my first day in the snow with AWD and I love it, although I have never really had any major experience with any other system. its a hell of a lot of fun though

I dream of wet rainy days where I can get the back end to give out. It nevers goes out of line on dry roads, so this snow is very welcome.

Yeah, this is my first winter with AWD too. It's amazing! I love being able to drift sideways and spin around in empty parking lots but still be in total control. I don't think I'll ever go back to FWD. I burned up like a 1/4 tank too.

Lol now ya know the feeling! today with the ice I was swerving all over the lane. I though maybe the all seasons were not enough until I stuck my foot out the door and felt the road.

AWD doesn't make you invincible, so be careful out there :)

i learned that lesson in a 4wd truck, you have all wheel go, every car has all wheel stop

during our last bout' with the white stuff, this car i believe it was a equinox (they have awd) goes flying past me in the "unplowed" lane, splashing slushy shit all over my car so i couldnt see,,,, so i finally catch up to him in a ditch about 2 miles up. he was already out of the car on his cell phone and there was someone stopped
just because you have AWD doesnt mean you are not stoppable..... on the other hand AWD= a wheels going, and guess what, all the wheels that have to stop!

Wow some of you are taking this too far! I just mean at slower speeds and snow drifting AWD is fun! I have a family so I do not do too much stupid stuff!

I mess around too. Mostly at night and on empty back roads. I never play in traffic. I couldn't live with my self if I ever hurt somebody. It is possible to mess around and still be responsible.

yeah snow drifting is the ish for sure. I was drifting an empty parking lot at night, fun right. then when I was leaving the lot, not drifting or messin around. the ass end hits some ice and put my driver side rear tire to the curb :smt022 now Im in search of a stock leggy steel wheel. the tire is still good on the up note. be careful guys an gals

Sounds like what happened to me last winter... exited a parking lot, and the back end rotated out on me (black ice FTL)...

How do you fix something like that? Did you just toss the rim in the trash?

You could weld it (the lip) but there's not much point as you'd still have to finish the wheel and hope that the weld is strong. Recycle it for scrap. Or, do like I did and keep it in the back yard as a trophy/battle scar/BBQ talking point. Eventually I hope to have enough trashed wheels (I have two so far, one bent and burnt) to make an outdoor table...

No change to the alignment - was on stock suspension then and the rears aren't adjustable much anyway. I still need to get a proper alignment but I'm going to wait till the engine is back in action.
