how do i remove the rear hub?

i just cant seem to get it out is there a trick? i got it like halfway with a rubber mallet but just cant seem to get it the rest of the way, im trying to do the rear bearings and i cant get the hub out

Did you remove the CV axle nut?

yeah i got it off and i pulled it half way but its stuck ill take a pic of it and show u

Spray the @!$! out of the area with PB Blaster or WD-40 or whatever, let it soak for a day or so. Then use a piece of wood against the axle stub and bang that with a big hammer. Didn't have a problem on my Legacy, but on my Forester the hub was a B to come off (did rear disc brake swap)!

are you trying to get the hub out of the upright, or the axle out of the hub?

You've undone the lateral links from the upright to give the axle room to come out, right?

yeah i took it all off and i got it out a little but its like stuck, i sprayed the $h!t out of it with pb blast and it came out about a inch but its still in there, i tried the wood with a hammer didnt work, i used a rubber dead blow hammer it moved it some bu still in there, is there a ting i can use one the lug bolts that pushes in on the hub?

Is the rear axle pulled out of the differential? If not, that would help you a lot. Also, autozone has an axle puller for rent, works like a steering wheel puller. Might be your best bet.

There was a pin in the rear axle? Well I got mine from a independent subaru repair shop, but they are used only in the front, least on 90s impreza/legacys/foresters that I have worked on.

ok i took it to 4 different shops i cant get the cv axle out of the hub, is there a trick? i even went to the junk yard and got one and i cant get this one out either. the cv axle is just stuck, i took the bolt off and put it in a 50 ton press and it woundnt budge, there has to be a beter way, am i doing it wrong or something?

i got new bearings i just cant get the cv alxe out, i tryed a little heat and it didnt budge,ill try it again, i even sprayed it with pb blaster and put it in the press over night with pressure on it and it didnt budge, why are these so hard to get out? the front ones were easy

The guys I know that own machine shops told me when I asked what problems they saw from a Legacy. It was the rear axles are a real mother to get out. They use a lot of heat and they are not responsible for any damage.

On the hub. you want to swell the hub not the axle. If you can stick it in a press and apply light pressure to the axle while heating the hub.

You know, with all the trouble this hub is giving you, why not buy a junkyard hub instead. Replace the bearing with your new one, and get a remanufactured axle. I mean this thing has been giving you trouble for what a month now? What's not to say it won't be that hard every time?

i got one from the junk yard and i cant get it out either i had to buy the hole cv axle and everyting, and it didnt have abs so im gona have to figure that part out cause some ass hole machanic broke the original one in the press cause he didnt now wat he was doing
