Traded my Outback

Wow, has it been a while since I've posted on here. I finally got rid of my Outback. It was getting up there in miles and had problems I didn't have the time to fix, and wasn't willing to spend the money to pay someone else to fix. Picked up an 02 WRX over the weekend. Did about 250 miles and was pleasantly surprised to see about 23 MPG. I think the Outback was only getting like 19. Hitting freezing rain yesterday made me very happy that it came with snow tires.

No pictures yet, but it's your standard bug eye in Midnight Black Pearl. Pretty much stock looking, other than being debadged.

Ok, since you're wrong, I'll correct ya. :grin: I just came back to a forum I used to frequent to let people I knew from here know I got a different car. If it hadn't sold before I got there, I was going to buy a Legacy GT a couple weeks ago. I was still considering the Legacy, just found a WRX in my price range and decided to go with that. I've had a GL wagon, Legacy sedan, Outback wagon, Impreza wagon and now the WRX sedan, and the wife still has a Outback wagon. Other than the Tribeca which I think is butt-ugly (but the wife likes) I don't rule much out when shopping for a Subaru for myself.

That said, no big plans for it yet. It's my first turbo car for one thing, and for another, well there are other priorities right now. Like getting some bills paid off and such. And getting through winter while thinking about little things I can do with it. I don't want the "hey officer look at me" thing going with the car, so the exterior will likely stay fairly stock/clean looking. That, and we haven't decided exactly what we're going to do. I really wanted a manual, but was having trouble finding a decent one in my price range that didn't sell a day or two before I could get there. (like the GT) This may become the wife's car when she's ready for something new, so I can shop for a manual trans car. ;) Of course, if she decides that isn't going to happen, then I might look into more serious mods.

We love all Subarus on the Legacy forums. Subaru is a small company and a lot of technology is shared between the cars, and knowledge therefore transfers across Legacies/Imprezas/Foresters.

Really? Manual Subaru anything is tough to find here. Seems everyone drives autos. Well, I could find some manuals, but they all sold quickly. I was working 1 Saturday, saw that GT at one dealer, and 2 other vehicles (manual Subaru 2.5 RS and a truck) at another dealer. Both were closed already though. I went back up the next Saturday (couldn't get home from work in time during the week) and all 3 vehicles had sold. Had the same thing happen several other times, see a car I wanted during the week, by the weekend it was gone. I was surprised that this WRX was still available when I had a chance to go look at it.

Yeah, that's what I figured. When I did frequent here previously, people were always talking about what transfered from one model to another, figured things would still be pretty similar. I had dropped off most forums, partially because I had lost interest and a bit of faith in the Outback I had and I figure now that I've got another Subaru I'll probably start frequenting the boards again, and hopefully attending some meets.

Automatic Legacys are the norm but I've seen maybe 2 auto WRXs in the midwest. I'm from the same place as Jey so I can agree that they are very rare. For good reason too lol.
