does anyone have had any experience with getting warranty work done at midas?
it is with another car of my familys, cat went bad again (check engine light came on about 40 miles before it hit 200k.)
it is still under the midas warranty i have another 1.5 years or so on the warranty.
mom ran out of gas early this week and now it threw a dummy light.
had it read and it says cat is bad.
i know this is for subaru only general discussion but i thought it would get viewed more, and it might help other people.
if they dont warranty it, i dont have emissions testing where i live, so i will just have a rod jammed through the cat.

thanks for any help

What vehicle are we talking about?

^^ vehicle type is irrelevant, but it looks like based on the signature he's referring to a 98 Astro AWD.
He's asking if anyone's had any luck with Midas warranty repair.

In my experience, repair shop warranties are near worthless - but you paid for it so read the warranty paper and call up the Midas shop manager or general regional manager to discuss it. That's the only thing you can do.

I wouldn't be surprised if cats are not covered under that warrantee. As was stated, all you can do is call.

That's how they make their money. They already have your car in there, so they tell you "hey, your wiper blades are rough and streaky, and your front brake pads are low - you should replace them".

^^ya but you cant beat the price on an oil change.

As with the midas warranty if you have it use it and there shouldn't be a problem.

hit 200k yesterday, and the cat was done at 108k. 2/24 warranty on internals, 5/50 on the exterior, so i am kinds screwed now. and yes it is in the astro van.

Could never hurt to ask. Trust the Midas touch, mofo!

I had an Astro EXT AWD for a work truck a few years ago, and that thing saw more time in the shop than on the road. The digital dash stopped working, that was pretty scary...not knowing...anything, like how fast you were going or how much gas you had in the damn thing. haha.

That is not necessarily true. Some vehicles have more trouble with their cats than others. Sometimes changing plugs, type of fuel and the O2 sensors can get the code to go away. Just because you have a P0420 does not automaticly mean the cats are done. As far as the warranty goes, it looks like you are past the coverage terms.

No, it (vehicle type) is still irrelevant to the question being asked - how good is Midas at warrantying work.

I don't disagree with fixing a PO420 with a tune-up, but that's not what he's asking.

I was trying to help with the driveability issue, but whatever. Guess from now on I won't try to read between the lines.
