Engine bog out

I just did a 5 speed and ej25 swap from at to mt in my 97 LSi. The motor seems like it bogs out. As if i had some nasty turbo lag. this only happens periodically. sometimes when i snap the throttle and sometimes easing it. The motor came from a 98 outback and the only thing i couldn't quite hook up was Evap canister. Would that have somthing to do with my problem? Also read it could be the MAF sensor but that worked just fine when i had it on my 2.2, however the motor did sit for several months so it was also suggested that i run injector cleaner through the system. any ideas?

perhaps a Throttle Position Sensor. i have a similar issue on mine and im 99% sure its the TPS
but it could be a evap canister. it wouldn't hurt to run some Seafoam thru it.

although mine isnt a "bog down" in mine.
mine is more of a shutter and hesitation.
like the engine is flooded? or starved?
does that sound like yours. i talked to master tech friend
he says he would bet money on the TPS

it seems like what your describing. when it does it i'll let off and slowly open the throttle and it seems crisp again.

well i can say this, i ran cleaner through the system...car does seem i bit snappier buuuut still has the hesitation. i have another TPS now. just have to change it. Definately will let you guys know.

Could be a vaccuum leak - is your evap solenoid totally disconnected? What exactly do you not have connected?

well on my legacy the evap canister is by the radiator. on the outback the motor came from its located in the back by the filler neck. sooo...my evap canister has no place to be hooked up with the setup i just put in it.

Are the vacuum hoses from the EVAP solenoid that lead to what is supposed to be the evap canister plugged? If not, every time the solenoid opens to purge the canister you've got a vacuum leak.

well i looked the entire motor over and found no leaks I even sprayed carb cleaner on all the vacuum lines. im clueless as to where that evap hooks up.

A leak in the EVAP system is not something you'd discover with the car idling in your driveway. EVAP solenoid opens when you're driving. There is a solenoid that has 2 vacuum tubes hoses on the end of it, usually the solenoid is bolted to the intake manifold itself. One hose goes to the intake manifold, the other goes to the charcoal canister.

i found the two hoses the one that hooks to mani and the other which is connected to a solid line. I'm thinkin the canister was bypassed in the car it was in or some crazy crap. even the diagram under the hood shows how it hooks up but what got me was that one of the lines was connected to a solid line already. im gonna take the hose off the solid line keep it connected to the solenoid run to the inlet of the canister, from the canister run it back to the solid line it was originally hooked to. sound sensible?

Yes it does. My car does the same thing now and then. My evap system is all connected and functioning properly. I think it's a fuel problem. I'm gonna change my fuel filter and check the pressure. It doesn't skip or anything. It just feels like it loses power.

well i definately know it's not anything with hook ups TO the motor. It's that motor it self. every thing like the MAF, fuel pump, fuel filter, etc.. its all fine because my 2.2 ran like a raped ape. but lord up there says TPS, soooo i wanna say he may be rite. but i still havnt gotten to changing that yet. probably will today.

Ok It's not my TPS. pulled codes for knock sensor, first o2, and evap flow. All that trouble because evap isnt hooked up. since i did the swap i need the preasure sensor off of a 97 outback so i have the correct connections for vacuum and what not.
