I need some help with my 02 suspension

ok, so here is the deal. Threw numerous opinions it was deamed that my struts are not bad, however my top hats are shot. Im really tight on cash and want the car to ride right, however i dont want to prolong the change of the parts, but everyone has told me, " you might has well change the struts if your doing the top hats"

is this true, so i need to do this?

its because youre essentially doing the same job for the tophats as you would for the strut so its a 2 for 1 job. If youre really tight then you really don't have the convenience to plunk down another $300 for a set of new GR2's (which is what any OEM-type replacement will run you) so the decision has been made for you, hasn't it? If you can pick up a set of Group N tophats for the front, it shouldn't run you more than $100 for a pair, usually even less if slightly used. The rear tophats are pretty cheap as well; I think I paid around $30ea at the dealer.

Do the struts at the same time. Hell you really should replace springs too, your springs are 7-8 years old.

i know, i see on ebay you can get the whole set (all 4) KYB struts for around 300 shipped, and then another 100 for the top hats, im looking at 400 just for the parts...

you know subarus are awesome but suck my ass at the same time!

you can try to find used 05-09 stuff, it should work all you'd need is new 00-04 front strut mounts and use everything else. those are a bit cheaper on lgt.com
