Im thinking about doing one of two things. Id like to remove the fabric on the door inserts. Either Id leave them like that, or put on a black vynil type of material.
My door cars are pretty much black. How well would the plastic insert match, or would it even look good at all? If I were to get a fabric/vynil Id like something pretty similar in colour to the rest of the door card.

Plastic insert will def. need to be recovered. The adhesive on the backside will have chemically faded it.
I would go with fabric. No-one complains about soft fabrics, but vinyl can be "UNhhh" or "Ugh...

You could always get some "Gucci" fabric and be a Canadian pimp :rr:

the adhesive will also be on the plastic doorcard, it will remain sticky. Also, it will look recessed compared to the rest of the door.
Vinyl looked good on mine, but I didn't get the super-cheap stuff either.
If you find a real nice fabric that you like (patterned or plain) you could go with that, or get some premium vinyl, and I think you'd be happy.

So painting that piece wouldn't be a good idea because it would look too sunk in? I could've sworn I saw a leg with white panels that were painted and it looked good. I had planned on doing an aluminum color on mine.

Plain black vynil, or plain black fabric. Vynil would be preferred especially if it matched the door colour.
I got the idea from this guy

you can paint vinyl if its primed, I believe.
But it does look kinda sunken in, I considered just leaving it with no cloth.

I'd paint the plastic speaker grille too... would give a nice flow toward the floor.

Negative. Painting interior parts is always a bad idea. It lowers the value of the car so much. It only looks good to certain people (aka car people). I'm trying to go for a classy stock look

Hey, how is it that you dont have that extra door handle? You know, the one going from lower handke (which you pull when closing the door) to power window switches? Is it the US market thing or...?

Just added handles and swapped my door fabric for some black synthetic suede stuff. Painted the speaker grills while I was in there too. The flash kind of washed it out. Looks good tho. I'm really happy with the results. Thanks for the ideas.
