Hey guys,
I am a member of the LGT forum but i decided to check this forum out for a change. wanted to see what you guys thought about my current tranny situation. first of all its a 5spd manual and let me tell you it is VERY sloppy. got it used with these problems in july. The problem comes when shifting from 1st to 2nd... there is no 2nd... it just feels like a wall is in the way. no grind or noise at all. just nothing. cant even get the shifter to pull as far back for 2nd as it does for 4th and Rev. when shifting from 1st to 3rd i obviously feel some bog as well as a split second grind from the high rpms in 1st haha.

I have access to a 98 LGT transmission in a nice scrapyard (i believe it will fit...has an EJ25 engine im pretty sure). Wondering if my transmission is worth saving, or if not how much you would guess it will cost for labor/#of hour job for replacing the tranny.

thanks alot!

What year is your Legacy GT? If its 97, 98 or 99 then that 98 trans will bolt right up and work fine. Of course, there's no guarentees about the condition of a junkyard trans. But you should be able to sit in the car and shift the gears.

hey, my legacy gt is a 97. do you have any idea how long it is estimated for a shop to put in the tranny?

Ok so i have a question, My 97 is having trans issues and was wondering would any year trans fit my 2.5? or would i have to stick to a trans from 95-99? I have a low milage car and the trans was abused at an early age, clutch was replaced at 40k from old guy that didnt drive it very much and drove it hard when he did. So i would also like to find a trans that isnt too bad on milage but also dont know if it would be wise to just rebuild the one i got.

You just need to match the rear diff ratio - this is discussed in many threads in this forum.

I'd rebuild - even a low mileage used tranny may have been abused.
