mrpyb thats true haha. and yeah, you better believe he wanted to stay with subaru but the kid is good. and im not gonna be mad at a driver of his caliber leaving a company because the company doesnt have enough resources to take him to the next level. hell who knows maybe in 2013 or when ever subaru comes back to the WRC, he'll sign back on. who knows.

Yea his "dream" blah blah "dream" this hibady bloo blah. I would like to know how much more he is getting paid, I'm sure that's the real reason behind his "dream". I'm sure Ford paid him a ridiculous amount of money to get him. They seen the colt following with Subaru, and hope he can do the same with them. Not stupid on their part, it's always about money.
from an STi to a fiesta!? come on ken..

01-06-2010, 04:31 PM
of course he's doing it for the money! Subaru's not in the sport any more, which means they couldnt pay him. That leaves him with the choice of Citreon which already has a gazilan good drives and is sponsored in part by redbull! It just makes sense. His team partner is Chris Atkinson and the two of them will help sell the merchandice/sport to teenyboppers to help offset the cost of running they're program/the cost of them becoming better at the sport (crashing alot).lol At the end of the day the man's doing what he wants, and getting paid big money to do it. For all we know, he could suck and not ever do well. But He still gets his chance, and gets money. I'd take that anyday.

when I first read they title of the post I was nike NOOOOOOOOOO, but really I don't blame the guy, yes it was for money but it is like anyone turning down a promotion, why would you. However I have to say the STI he was driving looks a hell of a lot better than any fiesta ever will, and probably perform better... time to get used to torque steer

Subaru "pulled out" of the WRC because they knew that the WRC was going to change the rules to ban everything but the inline 4. Hence, I no longer am interested in the WRC.

well looks like i have to return all of my ken block stuff :-(
this is a sad day..
Subaru hasn't had a competitive WRC car for a long time. Just look how well Solberg did in a years-old Citroen in 09.
Subaru left, so if anyone wants to get into a competitive ride for 2010 it's Ford or Citroen.
Don't blame Ken for rules changes and the credit crisis.

wah wah your idol changed companies. Who cares... just another person, driving another car that changed companies. Maybe if subaru would stop making their cars bigger and bigger more people would be interested in them. i dont see why people care so much?
I really doubt that He did it for the money since he does own DC which is and has done quite well in both the skateboarding and snowboarding world. Hell he bought a wooden chateau in park city with its' personal park for the snowboard team.

Yes. I like to think people are good and aren't concerned with making ridiculous amounts without giving back. Am I wrong? Probably, but oh well.

That is a fantasy, only people with no money will say if I had this amount of money I wouldn't need to make more. And if someone was stupid enough to not make more they won't be rich anymore.
As for people that are taking this personal, either you hate him or defend his decisions that is the world of sports. People talk like he is your best friend and is pure at heart. He may be a good guy, that's fine. But this is the world of sports. What athelete (besides Tom Brady lol) has not been about the money?

I can only see this as being a positive thing for Block. He's got his own team for US series and not under any shadows of Pastrana plus he can now go do the WRC. It's 2 separate venues, I hope he's getting more money cause there's a lot more work ahead of him.
Now we can see some good competition for Vermont Sports Car. This will only make the US series better having another Factory Team on the scene.
So next time your job offers you a raise, you should turn it down according to the logic in this thread. YES, its that simple.
Edit: I see Reason beat me to the punch

besides tom brady...... bias? lol
I was joking in a sense, but he did reconstruct his contract to bring in Randy Moss and Wes Welker. When opted for less money to bring in quality talent, he should/could have been the highest paid QB. But that's getting into a whole another thing.
He bailed, thats what he did, it's not a big deal. He's still going to make cool videos, just not in the beloved Subaru. Oh well...

Truth.
never said I wouldn't take the money or that he wouldn't do it for the money either. to be honest I don't know what I was trying to get at

Money aside, if kenny wanted to do WRC there was NO way for him to do that with Subaru, period!
The guy is marketable, even if he isnt the most qualified US driver to go to WRC, he is the most profitable and can probably do the most for bringing WRC coverage to the US.
BTW:, u all sound like a bunch of babies and also ford does have a longer history in Rally than Subaru, and it wasnt something ford was horribly bad at either. mmmm RS200

As stated above, have you seen the new fiesta rally car, it dominated the x-games and I wouldn't mind driving it either.

yeah thats pikes peak. there were 2 of those cars. Both of which were then taken and used in xgames this year. Im so excited to see a couple of them tear through the woods at STPR.. Dont forget, they're will be some european rallycross style racing this year in the Rally-america series, in which those fords will probally kick ass in.

Thought I'd bump the thread with an update about how Ken is doing so far.
THe the first rally of the year (snow drift)
Ken Block was reported out of the contest after the seventh stage late Friday. Early reports were that he suffered a mechanical failure.
"We had some sort of component in the suspension break," Block told WorldRallySport.com. "It's really unfortunate because I was driving conservatively and was in third place and just trying to finish."

So whos in first? Pastrana in the STI of course.
