hey guys just did the wiring for my head unit and I'm having a problem. The cluster lights and A/T selector lights are not lighting up. can someone tell me where the two wires wht/grn and yel/blu connect? I connected them both to the ilumination wire for the head unit but I have feeling one is maybe a return to the dash lights? Also the radio lights work...

Not sure if it's the same, but I had a similar problem and the end result was that a fuse under the hood was blown. Took me a while since I was looking at the cabin fuse box and all were good.

Yeah I never checked that...but I'm curious why there are two wires for the illumination on the harness and only one on the head unit?

One might be used for power antenna? That's my guess but I could be wrong.

The power antenna has it's own wire. It's just weird that there are two illumination wires, obviously this is the reason my cluster lights aren't working. Oh and on a side note, the fuse is fine and the tail lights work :s I'm thinking that temporarily I will put a neon light that I have lying around behind the gauge cluster to light it up...may look cool....

you dont need to hook them up to the illumination wire, you need to hook them up to the dimmer wire on the radio harness, look at your manual cause i forget what color it is but that should work.

ok I basically cut the harness off and spliced the new harness in, on the old harness there were 2 wires, pin 1 and pin 7, on the harness for my radio there is an illumination wire one of those two must go to the illumination wire because the wiring diagram states they are illumination wires? even if one of them does, where does the other go, there are no other wires. The lights do work on the radio, however, if I unplug the illumination wire from the two factory wires it will no longer light up.

what year car do you have, ill find your problem real quick. and the radio is lighting up because the illumination of that is on the internal board so as long as it has power, it will light up.

it is an aftermarket radio not the stock one, and it illuminates only when the wires are connected. It's a 97 LGT
