ok, so i have checked the first 4 pages and didnt see a relevent thread so i have a short and simple question. will a short shifter from a 04 WRX fit my 98 BD trans? If not how and where can you get a short shifter for one.

Yes; it should bolt up fine. I actually have an ebay short shifter for a 98-01 Impreza, but its the same.

2nd on the fitment, i have a $15 ebay short shifter for an impreza :D

NO, it won't fit, the 02+impreza's have a wider pivot bushing at the center of the shifter than the earlier models. The 00-04 Legacy's share the same shifter as the 02+WRX. You need a short shifter from the older impreza's, as was said earlier.
