My dads truck 05' Superduty with diesel has locking hubs upfront and i was wondering if there is any way you could get hubs on a sooby so you could have FWD,RWD,and 4wd. beceause FWD is fun to do burn outs RWD is fun for powersliding and donouts, and 4wd is awseome in the snow. I know there probaly isnt a way to do this ,but just thought i would ask.

That's essentially what the DCCD system does - except that it uses transfer clutch packs to direct torque.
The limitation of this is that the system isn't designed to do burnouts etc without some solid mechanical help.
There are people who have done AWD burnouts and borked axles, and RWD converts typically upgrade the rear diff.

Having the unlocked front would be sweet for gas mileage. Having two driven tires is better than 4, and then lock it for AWD fun in the twisties, but I don't think the rear differential is strong enough to handle power being sent to it all the time. Also, The driveshaft would still be spinning to the front, which would be wasted energy.
I had them on my toyota pickup and the only downfall is when it rains and gets cold, they can freeze in the unlocked position leaving you stranded in the snow. Also, they are bulky, so I don't know how they'd look on a car.

Gotta love these 4EAT's, I have a fuse holder under the hood which I put fuse in and I get 100% FWD, remove it and its AWD :lol:
I have wired the fuse into a switch under the dash, now I can switch from front to all wheel drive, even while on the move. In front only I get at least an extra 10% in my mpg and its only when pushing hard through the twists or in poor conditions do I now use AWD.
May lose some go with the auto but there are some gains :)

I was always told to never drive the car in FWD mode. Have heard of a couple people doing this and grenading their tranny. It wasn't built to be FWD. :?

I dunno about that theory - because the 4EAT typically runs in 90/10 most of the time anyway - only on loadbearing turns does it move toward 50/50.
So if you ran 100/0 75-80% of the time, it's practically the same thing.
As always though, caveat emptor (buyer beware).

Word on the street is that pulling the fwd fuse runs all power though the duty C solenoid, which eventually makes it fail, and it's difficult to replace.

Well no idea about fuse related probs, but I've been running mine for the last 4 years switched mainly to FWD, in fact its only really when it turns white do I bother going over to AWD. I do hammer the car at times too and so far no probs at all.
I have though recently added new fluid and Autogard just for extra safety, thanks to Huffer.
Also sorry for this but as and when I come to sell it, if the buyer wants to buy the car it'll be as it is at that time, I never give warranty with my cars so if the box fails as they drive down the road, well sorry but thats tough luck. Maybe a little hard from my side, but I deal like this as I am normally treated the same (saying this I also won't sell to friend's as I would rather have friend's than their money)
