I know I am not the first one to repaint the woodgrain trim, but I added a couple extra touches that I think pull it together nicely.

I started off removing and repainting the woodgrain trim and then I decided to paint a couple other parts to match. Let me know what you think.

Painted with duplicolor graphite/gunmetal metallic
-centre console (upper/lower)
-vent bezels
-main guage bezel (previously brushed aluminum..too bling for me)
-window switch bezels

I have been wanting to do that same color in my car i think it looks nice how hard is it to get the vents out of the dash? (the ones on the sides not the center ones).

The side vents were the toughest to remove. I used two small flathead screwdrivers. I had to wrestle with them a bit before they came out. As long as you are patient they come out eventually. The main clips holding them in place are on the sides, so leveraging the sides out works best.

I'm not a big fan of painted interior trim, but I do like what you did there.

Looks good man. Did you use plastic duplicolor paint.. or what? Also.. when you got the wood trim sticker crap off.. what did you use? Tell us a bit about the process you went through to get them painted.

Yea man I am really starting to hate my woodgrain interior so painting it is in the works. I am thinking of carbon fiber with gold really lightly airbrushed. It would look great.

Sure, so originally I was going to use some carbon fibre vinyl overtop of the woodgrain. I bought this stuff of ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.ca/NEW-3D-CARBON-FIBER-Vinyl-Roll-Sticker-Sheet-Film-Decal_W0QQitemZ120310708512QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMotors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories?hash=item1c0313b920

Laying this stuff down flat when there is any kind of curved surface is completely useless. So... I looked around in the cupboard. I painted my winter rims a few months back with duplicolor graphite/gunmetal metallic wheel paint and I had a half a can or so left. This is what I used to paint the trim pieces. The process was as follows:

1. Removal
-The upper and lower centre console pieces come out fairly easily. The window switches and side vents require a small flathead screwdriver for leverage.
2. Sanding
-I used a fine 1500 grit just to make the primer adhere a little better. Also, mask off areas that you don't want to get paint on.
3. Primer
- Any primer will do, 1 to 2 coats
4. Paint
- 3 coats, 1 coat clear.

A paint meant for plastic may be best if you decide to this yourself. In my case I just used whatever I had around the house.

Can you get me a picture of the carbon fiber (picture sucks on ebay) and maybe I will buy it from ya.

Looks very good! Not usually a fan of painted trim but that sorta looks stock. The newer WRX's have silver/aluminum look trim, so your's pretty much looks OEM.

Thanks, yeah that was what I was going for. I wanted to get rid of the wood without making it look tacky and mismatched.

Hey, originally from T., currently living in Hamilton. You can find duplicolor products at any Canadian Tire or Partsource.

Are you on TSC as well?
