Hi all,
I'm a Subaru fan and I have a Subaru Legacy SW 2.5 from 2004, with 140000 km on it.
Now I'm preparing a motor swap EJ25 to EJ255. I have a imported EJ255 motor from the USA with 21K miles. I also have a full transmission and the whole wiring harness, ECU and Key LOck, brakes....
Hope everything goes well! To the moment with the info I have, and all I have read in the net, I think that the biggest difficulty will be on the wiring, but let's see...
Hope going from 165 HP to 250 makes it worthy
Anyone has info that could help?????
MAny thanks in advance!!!

Welcome. That's interesting that you are using the GT motor. Are they still using 2.0 liter turbo motors in your country?
Are you going to keep the stock N/a Transmission?
Don't forget to post some pics of your ride and progress.

Hi Mike,
Unfortunately there is no GT available... That's why I imported a complete Legacy GT motor and transmision from USA, a EJ255 from a Legacy GT 06. My idea is to change Motor+Tansmission+Harness wiring.... Let's say that empty the car mechanically and the fill it again!
I will start the swap mid february so hope I can send photos for end of February!

Nice swap! You will be driving with a ton of power and torque. You must of paid an arm and a leg for that engine setup! Pics of the ride!

Hi, I found it on JustJaps Imports in Florida. It was not cheap, but the Euro/dolar change rate made it worthy (1,5)... I paid near 6000$ for motor, gearbox, complete transmision, differential, wiring..... also a new set of brakes, the ones with four pistons from a impreza....
Now I have to manage to mount it by myself and with a friend that holds a garage! Lets see how we end up! My car needed 90000 miles review shortly, and I had to cahnge a lot of things... .so the new motor with 21000 miles was worthier for me!

Hi,
SWAP going ahead, mechanical part was really easy. Motor got easily with the gearbox included. The transmission also got in easy. The brakes in the front were "plug and play" but in the back it's more difficult.
In europe brakes are really simple in the back, and single piston brake callipers are used. So the brake spindle has to be adapted to the new measure...
We have arrived now to the wiring... SUbaru makes a single wiring for all the car. This means that the motor wiring harness needed to be changed, and for that we had to dissassemble all the inner frontal part of the car. (will include photos soon)
We are now changing wires, lets see everything works and we do not have too much problems.
We have small concern about lights, because of the different lighting method in USA and Europe...
Also becasue of miles and kilometers.... We are changing all, ECU and everything.... maybe I have to get used to miles!
