My CD player stopped working suddenly.
Put a CD player in, and 5 seconds later it will eject it.
Blew some air to try to clean it, but still doesn't work.
This doesn't seem to be a common problem with Legacys,
but has anyone had the same problem?

YES. My 95 would do this ALL the damn time.
The most annoying part, it was not consistent. Some days it'd play just fine, others it'd just spit it back out. I honestly had no trick to fix it, just sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't. Sorry, I know that doesn't help, but you aren't alone.

I spent $20 on a craigslist CD player, works good so far (3 years later)

ugh, the headunit is about as universal as you can get; any stereo shop can replace it with a cheaper and much better sounding aftermarket unit without too much trouble if you don't want to do it yourself. Your stereo is just a regular DIN-sized unit.

i haven't had a good past relationship with Subaru cd players. go aftermarket, and get one with a usb port while you're at it.
