As many of you may have noticed, I rarely use the site socially. I primarily use it for the FS section and whatnot. Anyway, I figured I would take the initiative and start a thread with my car and how far I've come with it. :)

I initially bought the car as a winter beater since my civic wouldn't even make it up my driveway. I had always wanted one and knew they were unstoppable in the snow. Being that it was January and being that I'm in New England, there wasn't much in terms of selection. I knew I wanted an LGT and I wouldn't settle. I was also looking for a manual transmission. Well, it turns out in the middle of winter Subaru's for sale in this area are pretty scarce. So I had to settle for a 4EAT. I figured since it's only going to be used as a backup vehicle, and in the winter, that it wouldn't be so bad since I had a M/T in my civic for the summer.

So enough with my excuses... I bought the car with 165k for $1,000 bucks in Boston, MA from a private seller. To say the least it was quite beaten up but had limited rust. The rear differential was broken. The front and rear bumper covers were dented and scratched to hell. The rear quarter extensions were rusted and dented. Various broken interior bits. Piles of tobacco in between the seats. A nice thick coating of nicotine on the interior panels and windows. This car was a real keeper.

When I brought the car home a few days before Christmas of 08 (Yes, I bought it despite all of it's problems...) I wasn't quite sure if I made the right choice. I was very happy to have the luxury of having multiple cars. When I went to take the car to a friend's heated garage the day after Christmas, it didn't start. I instantly thought this process isn't going to go as planned. I tried all the basic troubleshooting for a non-starting car and nothing worked. I got the car towed to my mechanic. Turns out it was something as simple as the spark plugs. So after a quick tune up, a new rear diff, and I was good to go. A few weeks after this process I came across someone parting out a Green BD (just like mine) on a local subie forum. To my advantage I was able to purchase all new doors, a rear bumper cover, rear quarter extensions, and the various interior bits that were broken all for under $150. Not to mention a free 6 disk CD changer from a WRX. My car was starting to come together.

As winter ended, so did the repairs on my legacy. But not for long. I found a local member on here who was going to throw a front bumper cover away in late spring. I quickly picked it up and had a friend with previous auto body skills paint it for me along with my side skirts and unpainted exterior bits. I now had a complete legacy with the exception of fog lights.

With this sudden need for new fog lights, I decided to hunt for deals on JDM lights. I found a cheap set on ebay and promptly bought them. Being that my left rear tail light was broken and my headlights were permanently pointing down two feet in front of me I started looking for replacements. With no immediate deals available I decided to hold off. Around this time I lost my fun summer car thanks to a deer. So the legacy was absorbing all of the mileage of my other car.

After this incident I decided it was important to be able to see when driving at night so I purchased some JDM headlights. Shortly after I purchased some JDM tails to complete the renovation. This is where my car stands now. However, the JDM fogs have yet to be installed as I'm quite afraid of tearing up my beautifully painted bumper.

SO SHINY, did you replace that front bumper cover or just pop it out and work with it? it looks great.

Looking damn fine.

Thanks Reuben!

Thank you. I actually don't really like the color all that much. I prefer BGP, QSM, or Rio Red on a BD.

 I did replace it. I had no interest in trying to fix it. It was easier to just get another one.

Yes. Yes it is. Freshly painted and installed.

How you been?
