I started my 95 BK today and started off to work and then the beeper that tells you that you left your keys in the ignition went off for no reason. It then wouldn't go off and would go in and out like it was getting shorted out against something. It does stop when i take the key out of the ignition but thats the only way to get it to stop so far. Does anyone have any ideas on why my car is doing this???
Thanks

Ignition switch is on the way out... do you have a large bunch of keys by any chance? A lot of weight will cause premature wear on the key chamber.

I don't think that I do but i have had issues with the switch before with it not wanting to engage and all. I tried my spare key for it and it isn't making any difference. Does anyone know if there is a fuse that controls the ignition switch. If so what fuse to pull my repair manual is at my parents house so i cant look it up. Thanks

Bad door switch?

Bad door switch?
Oh yeah! That's another possible cause. Check your driver's B pillar to make sure the screw that bolts the door switch is screwed in all the way. that bolt IS the grounding mechanism for the switch (if your dome light is on too that's a dead giveaway).
Good thinking Okin.
The door switch circuit gets completed when the door is open. If there is a failure in the door switch you can test it by unscrewing it.

I ended up figuring out a way to fix it but im pretty sure that it is a ignition switch. I ended up looking up the wiring diagram and pulling the fuse that needed to be pulled. Its one of the two 15 amp fuses. Systematically did this untill i got the fuse that controlled it and my 4 ways as well as my mirrors. A uncle of mine is a locksmith so im going to try to get a ignition switch through him instead of the stealership. Also on my car it dosent chime when i have the door open just the light comes on.
