ring bolted to the hub?

wat is that ring bollted to the back of the hub? it seems to be on abs cars only so is it something for abs? it has like teath on it and is helled in with allen bolts, i need to change my hub and i dont feel like pushing it out of the knuckle so can i just cut it in half and then bolt it onto the one with out one? i really dont feel like doing the work of pushing the cv axle out and all that junk cause its a pita. thanks

ABS is correct, there is a sensor (magnet basically) that reads every time a tooth passes and lets the ABS controller know if the wheel is still spinning or has locked up. you need it if you have ABS. comes off with an allen key.

i now but my knuckle broke so i got a junk yard one with a hub and everything and it doesnt have abs so instead of pushing everything out and wat not can i just cut the ring and put it around it and then bolt it back togather? i will have to drill a hole in the brake shield for the sensor
