So im making my custom CAI and i was wondering do you just use a 45 degree bend when keeping the straight pipe at the very begging or is it a larger bend then that it doesn't look like a 70 degree but pictures can be deceiving...
Thanks - Ben

i had some truble with this, i used plastics, and in the end found it was not worth it ot keep the intake in the fender. but if you have a turbo then it might be. the bent i belave is more then a 45 because i have to angle the piping up to make it fit.

yea i had to cut out the part of the fender, but its before the crumple zones os nothin really bad. but its plastic piping that i got from shucks. its nohtin special. i decised later that i didnt want to run that shit cus my filter kept getting wet being in the fender. but the fiter is spectr and i took off the cold air and made it short ram. I also just ordered a weapon R short ram from auto parts something... and it should be here within the week.
I dont recamend putting the cold air intake in the fender mainly cuz it can get wet, if you insist on it then put something infromt of it. i used foarm insalator that still got wet and inturn got my filter wet....
you can also put the cold air straight down and right behind the radiator, some ppl like doin that.

When I had my VW GLI, I had my CAI down in my fender and kept it dry by using some sort of filter guard.

I don't know, that's plenty of turbulent airflow with all of the u-bends there...ever considered just getting an ebay sri for a 2.5RS and modifying that? Those U pipe things from autozone/pep boys aren't cheap either...

i could have but i looked for some time and couldnt finde on for a legacy. i didnt really want to get one for an impreza cuz i dont know much bout them. but i guess in hind sight it would have been a better option. at the same time though i found the CAI didnt give much better fuel econamy or much high rpm boost. the short ram is the best choice in my opinion.
