transmission help

im thinking about doing a transmission swap from an auto to manual...i know theres 2 different codes on the transmission but would the codes vary between auto and manual and how would i know which one to get?

Code starting in TY means manual AWD, and TZ is auto-AWD. Is that what you were asking?

ok so as long as i get a manual transmission from a bd itll fit in my auto bd?...with alot of swapping parts of course

hes throwin in more...so manual transmission with 60k miles, clutch and throw out bearing for $25...already out of the vehicle

Make sure you have a matching rear diff (same gear ratio) for that transmission your buying!

Yep, you'll need the manual driveshaft, rear diff, pedal box, clutch reservoir...rear axles, front axles...

i had a list from another topic of this sort..this was the list

I don't know if the axles from an 4EAT are the same as a 5MT, but I'm betting they're different.

im pretty sure u need new axels, i know we did on an impreza we swapped, you shouldnt need a new ecu or brake booster. also is the clutch for transmission your getting cable or hydraulically operated?

im bringing it home saturday ad installing it when the weather gets warmer

...I've never heard of swapping ECUs, but I have heard of keeping your automatic's TCU to retain ABS.

no they ecus are the same, the wiring is different, there should be one wire that that needs to be moved. it should indicated to the ecu what tranny is being used with the ecu.

Pretty sure I didn't need to swap axles on my car, F or R. Just the driveshaft.

i ended up not doing the swap...i sold the transmission a long while ago and sold the legacy about 3 weeks ago...now i have an RS 5 speed
