Well, about the only thing I haven't tried my hand at on a car is reupholstering so I decided to give it a shot yesterday when I was bored.
The interior of my Legacy is nice...but I want something that will stick out a little and is a little different so I went to Hobby Lobby and found some fabric that matched my interior and wahla..
When I have some extra time I am going to wrap my headliner also.
(Its not perfect but for my first attempt I am pretty proud)

hey thats pretty cool! i did the opposite by spraying my door cards black with fabric spray to make them blend in with my tenzo r rally seats. working on your car gives you that satisfaction. i love having a car!

That's pretty interesting, but are you doing the plaid on the headliner too? I'm thinking that is going to be too much. I'd vote for a black or dark charcoal if anything. - or something that matches the colours in the plaid.

There's already a DIY for this. Check the DIY section, and look under "Mark's doorcard mod" or similar.

Here is a pic of a VW Jetta with the plaid headliner...I am not 100% on it yet, either plaid or maybe just black..

Oh snap.
No, I'm just kidding - as an accent material it looks great... but I would be very hesitant to do a large space like a headliner.

think of it as a suit, the bolder the design, colors, ect. the more plain the accenting pattern should be. that way it makes the other stand out and still gives an overall clean look to the car. i'd say go with black. or w.e the darker color is in the plaid.

Are the fronts easy to do? I took apart the rear doors to check them out and they have the plastic welded things instead of screws. But I don't think I ever took apart the fronts to see how they were, just assumed they were the same.
But I've been wanting to do this for a while, just don't want to totally screw up the door panels.

Nice. I just put together a new shift boot in plaid. Also have my door cards and arm rest covered in the same plaid. The fabric I chose had a black base as a opposed to your white. Will eventually have the visors and glove box wrapped as well. Headliner is going black suede in the summer. I originally wanted to have plaid on the headliner. But I do not want to deal with lining up the pattern properly. So black suede or another black material to match the WRX seat. Ièll try to post pics if i remember. Some how the question mark is now an e with an accent.

Try concentrating on the plaid and not how dirty my interior is. Bought the car in December and it's been too cold to give it a proper cleaning :(. Maybe next week.
*Thanks, pics are now fixed.

I was wondering, I myself want to add a fabric design to my panels to my doors to but the thing is is that I have the leather ones
not the fabric ones so do yawl think if I want to go ahead and do this that I should go ahead and buy the fabric ones or should I just go ahead and use the leather ones I have now?
I have a BD legacy btw.

it really shouldn't be any different then the cloth ones. the fabric is just glued the the plastic underneath.
the glue was so dry on my door cards that I just pulled the fabric right off. I didn't even have to remove my door panels, lol
