In the next few weeks I will be pulling my motor and while it's out for doing my TOB and oil separator plate what else should I change/upgrade?
This is the first time for me but since I have a manual the bolts for the engine to tranny I should have no issues unbolting it?

I was thinking about doing the cams but is it harder to do it while the motor is in the car?

Yeah.. i would definitely do the cam seals if you can.. that one thing i still need to do on mine. Easier to do when the engine is out of the car (so i hear).. if your gonna do that, you might as well re-do the water pump and all that jazz behind timing belt and such too while the engine is out.

I did my waterpump and all the pulleys awhile ago.. heck I have a video on youtube about it.. I just never did the cams because I never could get the bolt off I think I have the seals around here still in the bag.
but I more meant cam regrind from delta cams

oh.. no doubt. I thought you just meant re-seal. He'll.. if you got the money, and your doing it anyways.. you always could. Just think about how much your willing to sink right now. Whats the URL to that vid on youtube btw?

I thought I heard it's like $95 per cam? Im not going to do a port polish I have other plans with another motor.
the funny thing about that video is (I know I'm not the only one that made this mistake) is I lined the cams by the white marks lol only after I looked close on the cam sprocket is a little arrow. So pissed I had to take the belt off again.
my idle looks lumpy in that video too but it idles fine.. at least I can replace the TB cover and I hope they come with new screws because my screws snapped and snapped the plastic cover along with it.

You have an EJ22 right? So it's only 2 cams - cheap. For us DOHC guys it's redonkulous to get the same amount of power upgrade. 4x the amount.
If you're pulling the engine, do every seal you can... I'm even doing the oil pan because mine is starting to show rust.
I'm doing a timing belt replacement at the same time, so it's getting hella expensive for me.
As for having trouble with bolts - don't kid yourself - if nothing's budged in 100k, you will have a heck of a time with SOMETHING unless you have had it soaking in PB blaster for days, or have some of the nifty impacts a professional has. Even master techs resort to torches.

I need to do my oil pan too because I have rust too.. I have to find my hanyes manual but I think it uses some type of permatex sealing stuff?
As for the bolts i figure a manual is going to have be pulled from the transmission sooner or later so better then a auto which has never been pulled apart at 200K vs a car that's on it's 2nd clutch or whatever.
I will be buying some air tools along with an air compressor next week my TOB is (from what I looked around) is starting to squeal on the pressure plate I don't know if that warrants a replacement or what if I push the clutch pedal down the sound stops.

^^ yup, that's a TOB. I'm also getting a TSK1 repair kit to prevent that from ever happening again.

Indeed.. that squeak is the TOB. Mine does the same thing. And yeah.. definitely do cams with the ej22.. i thought you were talking about a 2.5.. which like huffer said is hella expensive.
Huffer: how much your whole rebuild costing you?

It's about that.

A clutch kit comes with a T/O bearing, clutch, pressure plate, alignment tool. I'm getting an OEM Exedy clutch for $212 shipped from RallySportDirect.com. Best price I found!

man I really don't want to replace the clutch if I can help it since it was replaced when I brought the car at 198K
speaking about parts anyone have a list of online subaru parts places? I thought I saved them in my bookmarks when I moved over to my new system but I guess they got lost in the move.

If you don't need a clutch, wait a couple of weeks and I'll have a TOB to sell you. I'm buying a clutch kit AND a TSK1 5mt snout repair kit, so I'll have a spare TOB as the TSK1 comes with a TOB.

well I was thinking about getting that TSK kit really wont know until I pull the motor but I can't picture in my mind how the TSK1 works the whole squealing sound is the TOB rubbing on the pressure plate fingers right?

is there any way other then pulling everything apart to tell if your snout is getting mangled up? I still need to do all my stuff.. and I'm wondering how common the snout going bad is.

^^ not really... it's usually not the snout getting mangled, it's the TOB. But having the snout kit on there means it'll never get mangled.

$192 is for the whole clutch kit
Like I said in my PM, that is the incorrect clutch kit and will not fit your car. I'll have a price on the correct clutch kit for your car later today.

If it's from RallySportDirect it doesn't include shipping.
What you want is Exedy Part Number: 15010
