i was walking home from class and thought of a diy....would it be possible to wire your keyless entry in a way where it still works but when you unlock the car the car will turn on?

pretty much like a remote starter but serving 2 purposes

there was a thread on here a little while back about a diy push button start...kinda wire it the same way

idk, I wouldn't think it would work, at least with mine, but I have an aftermarket keyless entry. If you just press the button to unlock the car you would have to have something keep trying to make the starter turn over the engine and then stop when the engine is running. I don't think you could combine those 2 things.

and would you really want your car to start every time you unlocked your car???

So why no just get an aftermarket keyless entry with a remote start? That would give you all the options you need.

Technically doable? absolutely, practical? not so much, it won't be cheap to do, and I agree that one unlock button and one remote start button would be better. What if you want to grab something out of your car after you've parked it for the night, do you want to have to either start it, or use the physical key?
