so i was thinking i may buy a 1st generation legacy turbo. but im also considering my other options. so i have a few questions
first off how much can i increase the boost and still be on the safer side?
also does anyone know where to get performance parts for a car that old?
it may add this wouldn't be my daily driver. it would mostly be used for rally cross. and if i choose to get one it will be striped down and built... assuming i can find parts..

Sure. Most comprehensive forum for this model is bbs.legacycentral.org

Lots of wrx & sti stuff work, and Link, PP6 and Revtronix support the motor with engine management. Best bet is to find a 5-speed from the get go, but you can do a tranny swap of course. The engine's stock internals can handle 300whp just fine.

Definitely needs an intercooler if you're turning up the boost - fortunately almost all Subaru intercoolers will fit!

If you are able to find a stock EJ22 in that generation, you have just found yourself a CLOSED deck shortblock. Those things are the toughest blocks Subaru ever made, and can withstand quite a lot of abuse and boost.

Performance parts are hard to find these days - most of the guys who still have SS models are getting parts from NZ, Australia or Japan. In New Zealand that generation Legacy was called an "RS". I once knew a guy in NZ that had an RS clock a 10.2 down a 1/4 mile track... he was running an RA gearbox, meth and a huge turbo.

Sorry Huffer, stock EJ's are not closed deck. Only EJ22t's (all) and early EJ20g's.

Guess I misunderstood what you meant by "stock EJ in that generation." Sorry.

Should work. You'll need to get engine management if you want your motor to last.

this is true, but if you ask here you will find the answer you need. alot of the legacycentral ppl are no here.
