cat delete?

sorry couldnt find a post to match. BUT.
I recently took my car to the local custom exhaust shop and asked if they could make me headers from the specs of the MS3's that i found (they have a mandrel) but the guy said he does not do work on small cars that he is unfamiliar with (he didnt know it was a subaru until i told him) SO i asked about doing a cat delete and he said he would not do that either because of the O2 sensors. What route is recommended because i def. want to upgrade the exhaust and I guess ill just have to buy the MS3 headers, but apart from that what can i do with the cats without lighting up my dash and making it run like junk? Also anyone have any used exhaust for sale? 98 legacy brighton.

u know some guys at exhaust shops are freakin retards take it to someone else. because obviously that guy doesnt want to make the money.
as for the cat delete if you get a cel is because you need a "spark plug non fouler" to space the o2 sensor out of the exhaust stream. and hey u dont even need the 2nd o2 sensor. just have the first one installed via a welded in "bung" and leave the 2nd o2 sensor plugged in, but zippy tied to the chassi. :smt006 have fun

so the O2 sensor or sensors dont need to be in the cat at all?

If you DONT want a ceLl, don't mess with it as gains to a stock motor will be incredibly miniscule.

Ive heard that taking out the rear o2 does not work on subarus. I know it worked on my old dodge.

But again if your stock there is alot you should be worrying about instead of cats that won even think of throwing a cel.

And the exhaust shops might not do it cause it's not legalfor a shop to remove an emissions equip.

Also what are the emmisions laws in tx?

What about hammering the honeycomb of the cat out? It would still look like there was one on there, but would flow tons better!

cat delete without real support mods that benefit from a cat delete with real only increase noise and show no real gains. cats really arent super restictive begin with. as far as the exhaust shop try a different one and see what they with do.

yeah im looking into some exhaust work, but i think i want to lay down some suspension mods before i do much else

Is a cat-delete worth it if I'm getting UEL headers and a cat-back?

Probably not. There was no difference with/without a cat even on my turbo setup.
