So today I got bored so I went to a local field and tore that shit up, but afterwards my car (99 gt) started making a horribly loud knocking noise. I work at a ford dealership so I took it there and everyone there is convinced that my engine is blown but I refuse to believe it, it only has around 94k (I'm so close to 100k!!). Tomorrow I'm going tomy friends house to check and make sure it's not a Valve spring, which I really hope it is) but I was wondering if anyone had any other suggestion as to what it may be cause I don't have the money to replace the engine. I know its not a Rod KNock as its not deep enough and the car doesn't shake when I'm driving it. When I was tearing up the field I was running at high RPMs but I wasn't pegging itfor too long only like a second or two at a time. So if any one has ANY suggestions please let me know!
Thanks,
Tom

Do you have a motor stethascope? If so, use it to pin point where the knock is coming from.

I've never heard of that. Where could I get one?

Does your engine have any oil in it?

Yup, I even changed it and got a new oil filter to see if it would do anything but it didn't.

How many qts came out when you changed the oil, is what I think he meant. If you were down to 2 or less then it's likely you'll need new bearings.

I'm not sure I was pouring it into a big trash can with old oil already in it but if I had to guess I'd say 3 or 3 and a half. I'll check out the bearings out though.
