View Full Version : Telling the diff between Code and Alpine keyless modules

I have a 99 Outback, through the search on this site I found where to locate the keyless module under the dash.
And to my surprise my OB had a keyless module installed all ready, so I ordered a replacement Alpine remote on Ebay.

Im having trouble getting the car into program mode, I followed the instructions on the cars 101 site.
Ive tried cycling the key 5 or 6 times (10 times + on each occasion) and cant get the car to honk once.
Should I be starting with the key in the on position? I feel like im missing something..

Maybe I have a code alarm/keyless? 99 was the cross over year according to cars 101.
Is their a way to visually tell the difference between the code and alpine keyless modules?

Any thoughts/help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Greg

Get the part number for the keyless module, and call your dealer, ask what remote works with it. That'd be my first step.

The parts counter at my dealer is less than helpful unless your standing at the counter with cash in your hand..
But ill give it a whirl Monday, since I cant find this info online anywhere.

The part# is pasted on a sticker ON the keyless module under your dash. Post it up here and we can help you.

Yes, I know.
Found a wire that was almost completely severed right near the connector in the keyless harness. Must have been pinched somewhere along the line, soldered in a jumper and its good to go. Programs right away now.
The part number from my Alpine module is 88035AC210 if you want to add it to the OEM part number thread.

A google search on that PN gave me this link:

Pretty cool.

Glad your keyless is working now!
