im not sure if they will work probable the one for the gc. the wrx one wont work because it will hit the header, its made for a turbo setup. it says it will fit on the us impreza models with modification so buy it make it work and do a write up.

We talked about this before, but I don't think either one will fit for a NA car because of the exhaust piping will pass above it. Where in a turbo car the exhaust comes down after the brace.

As for what will bolt up, the GC8 one wont, you need the WRX one, rougeben83 has that one.

Ok one guy says gc8 and ones says wrx. Anyone actually have one on here that can verify which one it actually is?

One says probably, the other says what will.

These "H" braces can not fit N/A cars. Our sub-frame and exhaust manifold gets in the way. A GD and GC sub-frame are identical although some GC sub-frames like the version 5 sit a tad lower. To answer your question a GC style will fit since the gen 2 legacy's are built from a gen 1 impreza. GD's use different holes in the frame rails.

But again without a turbo subframe and turbo manifold this mod wont fit N/A

^^^^Whats that pic of is that turbo'd or is that just a custom pipe?

So in theory if we got a turbo cross member and used WRX headers without a turbo and just made a custom pipe to connect the up and down pipes the H-brace would fit? Way to much work I'm jw because some people have talked about doing this instead of getting Borlas that crack or thin knockoff headers.

So about the only braces we can use are Strut tower braces and the rear lower tie bars?

In theory yes. Realistically that's just a waste of pipes.

F/R strut bars
Rear sub-frame brace (goes behind your diff and strengthens the sub-frame)
OEM rear seat brace. Some cars came with them. (Nothing special but hey its another brace.)
Impreza fender braces (only if you drill/tap into your front clip)

I have one of these for a gc. I bought it when I had my 96 impreza brighton. just to help clarify some info, what I know is that the ones for the gc are more of an A shape and the gd is more H shaped. The gc one would bolt up to any first gen impreza regardless of whether or not it has a turbo or n/a crossmember. However like mentioned before the n/a exhuast runs right where the brace would fit. So it will not fit an n/a car.

I have had my BD legacy for over a year now and still have the gc h-brace. I have never checked to see if it would match up to my legacy. I will have to get it out and see. If you do a turbo swap or add a turbo kit to your car you should be able to install one of these braces without a problem. Whether you just knotch the n/a crossmember or use the turbo one. I will post up if the gc one matches the 2nd gen legacy or not as soon as I try it.

Thanks, I'm sure we'd all appreciate that info.
