i looked through several posts before making this...

Anyone running this rim and tire size combo (225/55/r16)? and will i have trouble with rubbing or anything else?... i want to make sure they aren[t too wide before taking the tires off my other car and dealing with all the hassle. The local shops say they will fit the rim, and of course i know that but not much help from them otherwise

tires were previously on my other car but have less that 1000 miles on them so i figured i would upgrade the stock 15 legacy wheels to some 16's, heres the link to the tires and the rims/wheels...the site reccomends 205/55/r16 but is there that big of a difference

open to suggestions

there are people who run 7" wide wheels here, you *should* be fine hopefully one of them will chime in

As bad as this is going to sound but I have one of those tires on my car right now. I know I know I don't want to hear how bad it is running two different size tires, I know this.

But to answer your question it's in the rear and not rubbing. And I like how it looks on the rim. When I get tires I'm going to get this size 225/55/16. I can't say how the fronts will be though.

I just realized this was a 02. The wheel wells are huge, those SHOULD fit with no rubbing issues.

I've seen wrx guys use the stock wrx wheel (6.5") on 225's before, it bulges out a little more but it shouldn't be a problem wheel-wise. Depending on your offset, there's a good chance you'll have plenty of room. If you're using a low offset (below 40, a lot of vw's use this low offset), you may have some slight rubbing. I have 17x7 42 offset with 225 snow tires right now and have no rubbing issues.

thats the thing, i havent been able to figure out the offset....went into brunell tire factory and rolled a set up next to mine and the 225 is deffinately bigger and on the front the struts or the bumper on top of the shock looks like it would hit and when turning they look like they'd be an issue....i[m going to keep lookin' but i like the 5 or 6 spoke look with some what of a lip...any other suggestions for rims?

well im running legacy shocks so my spring perch is same distance away as any other legacy and my tire wheel combo is 17x7 ET 48 and 225/55/17 i have about 1/4" clearance between wheel and tire and only rub slightly at hard corners if you go with 225/55/16 you should be totaly fine but then again i dont know how much fender room you'll have because my outback has wider fenders like Ben saidd find a wheel with 40-45 offset and you'll be fine
